The Senior Director of Technical Account Management will be responsible for leading, developing, and inspiring a growing team of Technical Account Managers (TAM) chartered with ensuring Smartsheet customers successfully deploy and adopt Smartsheet solutions and in achieving measurable business value. The ideal candidate will possess a wealth of experience in creating and growing technical advisory programs with a focus on a repeatable methodology and scalable business models. We are looking for a dynamic leader that has vision, depth and execution experience to drive a strategic part of our business. In this role, you will collaborate across various departments within Smartsheet, working closely with customers to elevate and expand our TAM business. Your efforts will contribute to fostering a robust ecosystem of satisfied customers who derive intrinsic value from Smartsheet products and solutions.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Professional Services, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the growth and success of our Technical Account Management function. This is a remote eligible position and you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is registered. You Will:

  • Lead the strategy, management, operation, and growth of the global TAM program and team.
  • Lead and energize a high-performing organization, set a clear vision, and establish a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Establish, monitor, and achieve key financial and non-financial performance metrics for the TAM business (including achieving TAM business bookings, revenue, and margin targets).
  • Maintain double digit growth of the TAM topline, while managing the TAM renewal rate to be a leader in our NDRR.
  • Lead from the front in selling and renewing TAM in our most strategically important accounts establishing the TAM value proposition, and aligning/escalating if necessary to drive optimum adoption of the offering across executive customer stakeholders.
  • Serve as an executive sponsor for key accounts, taking personal ownership for customer outcomes.
  • Innovate new TAM offerings that catalyze growth, improve renewal rates, and increase contribution margin.
  • Drive growth of products and services revenue by leading, enabling, and motivating a high performing technical team.
  • Hire and retain a diverse team of top talent while managing performance to ensure consistent execution, career advancement and effective succession planning.
  • Facilitate change management activities with cross-functional team members and stakeholders to continue improving the TAM service and harmonization with Professional Services, Technical Support, and Customer Success.
  • Partner with our Strategic Relationships Leadership (Sales & Customer Success) to ascertain client priorities to set a long-term strategy for service delivery that aligns to their goals.
  • Participate in the delivery of major customer facing and internal events such as ENGAGE and our World Wide Sales Kick-off.

You Have:

  • Strong business acumen in areas of post sales delivery of SaaS and enterprise software experience
  • 7+ years of SaaS /Enterprise Software Technical Account Management leadership experience
  • Excellent collaborator and communicator within and across various levels of the organization
  • Strong track record for growing revenue with P&L experience
  • Proven leadership skills in motivating and inspiring a team
  • Strong balance of strategic and execution skills 
  • Experience leading with influence rather than authority
  • Led teams engaged in the delivery of complex solutions that result in a unified approach
  • An executive presence and have managed executive relationships internally and with customers to create business transformation
  • Knowledge of Smartsheet technologies
  • BA/BS degree required. Advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum of 10+ years relevant experience
  • Willing to travel periodically (up to 20%) based on customer and business need
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer on an ongoing basis

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity and some roles may be eligible for a RSU stock grant upon accepted offer.

California & New York: $189,000 to $264,600

All other US States: $175,000 to $245,000
