POSITION TITLE: Grants Administrator III (Post-Award)

POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Grants Administrator III supporting the Office of Sponsored Programs at Scripps Research in La Jolla, California, home of some of the world’s most renowned scientists. This is a great opportunity for someone who is excited to take on an important role to ensure compliant proposal submissions and aid in non-financial post award activities. Your passion for our purpose and your expertise in grant administration will empower us to secure resources that drive our global impact. As a member of the OSP Pre-Award team you’ll contribute to the institute’s mission while honing your skills in grant administration and award negotiation. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provide analyses and strategic direction to ensure Scripps Research’s financial commitments are met – internally and externally
  • Monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with agency and institue guidelines
  • Develop and manage best-in-class forecasting and measurement tools and processes, defining KPIs and deriving insights to inform operational decision-making
  • Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and/or maximize opportunities in new initiatives / strategic management and measure results
  • Support Scripps Research’s leadership to evaluate new opportunities and initiatives
  • Prepare financial reports for Investigators and Sponsored Programs leadership and perform complex financial analyses on tight deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a grant and contract administration office.
  • Professional demeanor and solid spreadsheet skills are critical.
  • Familiarity with financial information systems and grant applications and awards, and thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and NIH accounting guidelines (workday is a plus)
  • Skill and accuracy in detailed review of grants and contracts documents.
  • Effective analytical, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to efficiently interact with faculty, staff, and leadership.
  • Proven ability to efficiently manage one’s time to organize and prioritize workload.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

May include: Stationary position for an extended period of time, traverse campus/facility as needed, operate machinery such as computer, phone, copy machine; exposure to cold or hot temperatures.

COMPENSATON: (for Min to Mid-range)

The expected hiring range for this position is $75,068 to $86,290/annually, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
