Product Manager, Military Products

Location: Grand Prairie, Texas

Salary: $100,000 - $125,000

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall coordination of all activities associated with a specific product line to ensure orders are completed according to engineering specifications, delivered on time and meet the customer’s requirements. The Product Manager will be the main contact for the customer and is specifically responsible for all commercial, scheduling and shipping interfaces with the customer. The Product Manager will monitor and maintain the product lines’ inventory levels, forecasting, cost control, manufacturing oversight and overall margins to maximize profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary contact between Company and Customer.
  • Maintain direct involvement with engineering, manufacturing and quality departments.
  • Create customer specific quotations based on standard pricing sheets.
  • Prepare sales orders and purchase order review packages for distribution to all departments on new orders.
  • Initiate work orders and drawing requests to create bill of materials which are then entered into Glovia. 
  • Requisition raw or FG material based on inventory planning, projected backlog, and new orders.
  • Monitor all raw materials and final component processing with Purchasing and the Materials Coordinator to ensure the movement of the material or work in process through all stages of production. Provide department supervisors with detailed and specific information concerning product requirements, such as required third party inspection, completion timetable and other order specific information.
  • Maintain project schedules and prepare progress reports.
  • Prepare and submit variation orders when applicable.
  • Coordinate activities between departments for revised purchase order requirements.
  • Coordinate all packaging and shipping requirements and initiate final invoices on completed orders.
  • Ensure all required product documentation is prepared, compiled and submitted through Document Control.
  • Continuously compile and analyze product line costs and margins to ensure target levels are achieved.
  • Provide sales and margin forecasts to upper management for the preparation of annual operating plans and quarterly / monthly reports.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend trade shows and visit Customers.
  • Investigate methods to simplify, streamline or standardize production activities.
  • Investigate and implement methods which will reduce product line costs or improve capacity.
  • Provide support to A/R in collecting delinquent invoice payments.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Accredited bachelor’s degree in either business or engineering.
  • Four to Seven years experience in a manufacturing or supervisory position.
  • Highly organized individual able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of computers and software (Project Scheduling, Word Processing, and Spreadsheets).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow and relay detailed and complex instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged sitting typically associated with computer usage.

Walking, standing, bending, stooping, carrying and lifting of up to 20 pounds throughout the workday
