Lead Software Engineering

The Role:

As a Lead Software Engineering at Mastercard, you are expected to perform the following general duties:

  • Responsible for programming, testing, implementing, documenting, maintaining, and supporting applications in adherence with MasterCard standards, processes and industry best practices.
  • Perform requirement analysis, design, estimation, problem solving and development of tasks of increasingly complex nature which may require extensive research and analysis.
  • Drive prioritization decisions and trade-offs in working with product partners.
  • Identify opportunities and build roadmaps to enhance primary service/function.
  • Drive seamless integration across all connected services to meet end-user expectations.
  • Introduce new technologies and architecture by following enterprise guidelines.
  • Advocate for engineering principles outside of current organization/platform
  • Provide development and architecture guidance to team members.
  • Build relationships and effective partnerships across organizations.
  • Lead by example with hands-on approaches to demonstrate engineering excellence.
  • Communicate directly with team and project leaders to ensure scheduled due dates are met, while identifying emerging issues and recommending solutions for problems and independently perform assigned tasks.

All About You

  • Expert understanding of software engineering concepts and methodologies
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Golang and/or C#.
  • Deep understanding of the importance of test automation and code quality tooling.
  • Able to configure rules and build automation for code with vulnerability scanning and software composition analysis using standard tools (e.g., Sonar, Checkmarx, Nexus, JFrog XRay, Veracode, others)
  • Expert critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • High-energy, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to handle multiple high-priority demands while driving consistent results.
  • Collaborative, communicative and engaged with team discussions, asking questions, mentoring juniors, and raising standards.
  • Able to foster a comfortable environment for tough technical discussions where everyone can be heard.
  • Has skills to conduct product demos and co-ordinate with product owners to drive product acceptance signoffs
  • Has skills to Understands customer journeys and ensure a Mastercard good experience by continuously reducing Mean time to mitigate (MTTM) for incidents and ensuring high availability (99.95% as a starting point

Nice to have(s)

  • Experience developing with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Redis)
  • Experience developing frontend solutions with Angular or React or other modern frameworks

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
