Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM Learning and Knowledge Development team is looking for the right candidate to fill a key role on the team as a Senior Learning Experience Designer (Instructional Designer). In this role you would be working with Learning Strategists/Consultants and Subject Matter Experts to understand and assess the requirements for classroom, virtual, or on-line self-paced education solutions. Crafting the storyline and articulating the overall learning approach outlining modules/lessons, defining learning objectives and instructional strategies, identifying delivery media, opportunities for practice, reinforcement, and assessment methods and putting these all together into a coherent design for developing and/or assembling solution content. You would also be working with Learning Developers to translate requirements into effective learning experiences. As well as ensuring the quality of the solution and content, applying editing skills on authored or curated material.

Other skills that you need to be successful in this role include the ability to clearly organize information and communicate; basic project management skills such as tracking tasks, estimating time commitments, and managing to a schedule, knowledge and application of IBM and non-IBM standards and style guidelines and intellectual property requirements; and how to develop information across a blend of delivery methods. Our ideal candidate is also proficient in applying agile practices for delivery in short time frames with high quality and autonomy.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 4+ years of experience in Instructional Design
  • 5+ years of experience leading global project teams
  • Proven attention to detail and follow through skills
  • Experience managing, supervising others
  • Experience working with offshore, hybrid (onshore/offshore), and virtual teams
  • Experience consulting with senior business leaders on training/development projects

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Be a result driven individual with a growth mindset
  • Experience in using the following tools: Virtual Classroom tools (WebEx, ..etc.), Large group (20+ participant) video conferencing solutions, Off-the-shelf simulation, branching scenario tools (e.g., BranchTrack), MS Office (PPT, Word, Excel), Camtasia, Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Videoscribe, Audacity (Audio recording/editing), LVC Tools (Blackboard Collaborate, IBM Meetings, Zoom), Box, Jira, Slack, Mural
