SCOPE: 

Under the supervisor of the Director – Information Technology, the Senior Systems Administrator provides systems administration and network support. In conjunction with the Director, IT analyzes requirements to plan systems that will provide the capabilities required for projected workloads.

The Senior Systems Administrator serves as a technical expert for the development, implementation, management, and support of MSSI systems and networks.

A Senior Systems Administrator may assist with the planning of various layouts and installations of new systems or equipment at all health service delivery locations in Iraq and ensure connectivity with DOS and other systems. In support of the MSSI mission the Information Technology Specialist may perform in any or all the following roles as assigned by Director of IT:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administration of virtual environment using VMWare VSphere 7 to include resource provisioning and allocation, performance monitoring, and administration of ESX and ESXi hosts and virtual machines. 
  • Deployment, configuration, and administration of Windows Server roles to include DNS, DHCP, Distributed File System (DFS), File and Storage Services, Print and Document Services, Remote Desktop Services Connection Broker, Windows Deployment Services (WDS), Windows Server Updates Services (WSUS), and Group Policy
  • Perform server administration tasks, including Active Directory user/group administration, security permissions, resource monitoring, and patching
  • Administration of Remote Desktop Services (RDS) Farm
  • Deployment, configuration, and administration of Domain Controllers
  • Create, test, and deploy workstation images using Windows Deployment Server (WDS) and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Monitors helpdesk dashboard for submitted ticket requests. Respond to remote, call-in, and walk-in user requests
  • Assist with new hire onboarding tasks to include training and equipment familiarization.
  • Responsible for training users to use new or modified software or hardware.
  • Provide 24/7 support of LAN, WAN and WLAN for all CHS medical services across MSSI
  • Configure, test, and deploy network Cisco branded devices to include routers, switches, wireless access points and VoIP phones
  • Deployment and administration of Cisco VoIP phones using Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM)
  • Maintain and support VSAT connectivity and equipment
  • Administration of backup operations and implementation of appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures using Backup Exec
  • Serves as the primary department contact in the absence of the Director of IT
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the Director of IT.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network topologies, IP addressing schema and other documentation.
  • Confers with managers to obtain information on limitations and capabilities of existing systems and capabilities required projected workload.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of database, network administration, or system administration experience. 
  • Professional Certifications: CCNA, MCSE/MCSA, VCP, or VCAP highly desirable
  • Experience in an Enterprise Healthcare environment with exposure to PACS, HL7 and EMR support is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of VMWare and ESXi and administration of hosts and virtual machines.
  • Strong knowledge of administrating Windows Server 2012/2016 enterprise environments
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco IOS and associated commands
  • Strong knowledge of configuration of Cisco 2911/4331 routers, Cisco 9200 series switches, Meraki Access Points and Dashboard
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix is highly desirable
  • SQL Database Administration
  • Requires the ability to read and interpret written information and effectively communicate verbally and in writing where information includes scientific terminology. 
  • Requires knowledge of network planning and basic skills required by a Network Administrator, Computer Support Specialist and/or Database Administrator.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must have a current U.S. Passport.
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.
  • Work hours are based on a 72 hr. work week; typically six 12 hour days but other variations may apply to include on-call hours.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance per contract requirements.
  • Shall attend a Pre-deployment Counter Terrorism training course prior to deployment to Iraq.
  • The following requirements apply to Information Technicians: 
  • Shall be licensed/certificated in the United States.
  • Participate in training, (including HIPAA training) that may be required by DOS or Acuity prior to deployment to Iraq. 
  • Must complete a Foreign Affairs Counter Terrorism training course prior to deployment to Iraq for work on the MSSI contract. Training will include: Combat First Aid, Weapons Familiarization, Defensive Tactics/Driving, IED recognition, Surveillance Detection and Hostage Survival and Personnel Recovery
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.
  • Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the Acuity Medical Management System software.
  • Shall understand and practice the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance AcuityMedical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.
  • No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment; including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor and chemical/biological protective garments or conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel in Iraq is required by surface or air.
  • The climate is desert-like, hot and prone to dust storms.
