Job Description

This Engineer will help develop portable devices with Public Safety Mission-Critical Audio: extreme noise

suppression, high dynamic range mics, mic array technologies, advanced DSP audio algorithms, and

proprietary design micro loudspeakers – all carefully integrated to create a lifeline for firefighters,

soldiers & law enforcement officers – it must work… always! Mission-critical audio begins where

consumer audio leaves off.

Motorola Solutions, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is searching for an Audio / Acoustical Engineer to join an

advanced technology and product design team that is focused on wireless speech communications

under a wide range of conditions, for demanding customers.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

● Development of new approaches and algorithms for audio signal processing

● Design audio architecture for high noise and harsh environments, with a focus on intelligibility

● Evaluate products with Speech Quality and Intelligibility Metrics

● Work with Human Factors and Business Teams - judge customer-perceived value

● Concept prototyping: take a new audio algorithm or design from concept to initial working

model to assess technical performance and strength of perception

● Lab testing and audio data collection

Desired skills and abilities

● Matlab and/or Python programming.

● DSP programming on embedded devices.

● Physical and Perceptual Acoustics

● Machine Learning approaches to audio processing

● Adobe Audition, and/or Audacity audio file editing tools

● Document work using Google at Work tools (or MS Office)

● Works well with other engineers

● Must be positive, open-minded, embraces challenges and can contribute to innovative

approaches

Basic Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Acoustics, Electrical Engineering or similarly related Area. Or
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience
