Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a RF Microwave I&T Engineer Manager 2, to join their team in Baltimore, MD. This position will support our Remote Sensing Program (RSP) Business Unit.

The position is a vital part of the Sub-System Leadership (SSL) Department focused mainly on Sub System Integration and Test. The position is approximately 20% functional organization management with 12-15 team members and 80% direct contract work (program related work). The role will focus on three primary areas of responsibility: department strategy, team leadership, and technical performance. 

Team Leadership Responsibilities include:

  • Functional oversight of a section of engineers working multiple programs
  • Lead an engineering functional group of 12 to 15 engineers including performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning
  • Staffing and workload forecasting
  • Manpower and resource assignment
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and mentoring
  • Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new and experienced employees
  • Provide project and technical oversight for activities performed by the group
  • Ensure application of design processes and guidelines used in the group
  • Employee inclusion, engagement, and mentoring
  • Performance management and career development
  • Identification of skills required to execute on programs and needed employee training.

Technical Performance Responsibilities Include:

  • Support and adherence to engineering processes
  • Oversight of technical quality for various development, integration, or production programs
  • Analysis of design tools, processes, and technologies needed to support strategic product plans
  • Technical risk assessment and mitigation
  • Support for new business development and proposals.
  • Development and advancement of the technology, including supporting organization initiatives around streamlining the design and test process by determining more efficient methodologies.

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. They will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.

The candidate will work closely with engineering teams, technical advisors and managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors and program managers. The ideal candidate will also be able to champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business. 10% travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline
  • Minimum of 9 years of professional relevant experience (7 years with MS; 4 years with Ph.D.)
  • Must be experienced in all aspects of the hardware engineering process, from requirements analysis through verification testing with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Minimum 3 years of technical leadership
  • Must have experience with RF/Microwave, Electro-Optical (EO) / Infrared Sensors (IR), or mixed signal hardware design
  • RF test equipment (Signal Generators, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESAs)
  • Proficiency in technical problem solving
  • Must be able to present and convey good communications to programs, directors, department managers, and technical team.
  • Must have an Active Secret clearance, and have the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance
  • US Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience with Antenna, Analysis, and/or Integration & Test
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously
  • Experience with program management, functional management, and/or customer management skills
  • Familiarity of Antenna design, modeling, and analysis
  • Familiarity Antenna pattern and RF chain analysis
  • Familiarity of Antenna architecture

Salary Range: $141,700.00 - $211,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
