Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Weapons Integration Engineer or Principal Weapons Integration Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA and will require some travel.

The Weapons Integration Engineer is expected to be a highly-motivated self-starter with a demonstrated ability to operate effectively on a team of engineers and technicians. General understanding of Universal Armament Interface (UAI) compliant MIL-STD-1760 Stores Management Systems (SMS), MIL-STD-1553 and Suspension and Release Equipment (S&RE) is required. Daily activities include evaluating electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and testing products. Specific tasks performed in this role are requirements management, system integration, test plan development, and test execution of a weapon system throughout the entire development, demonstration, and production phases.

The successful candidate must possess technical knowledge of SMS/S&RE-related hardware and software requirements and experience in the definition, design, integration, test, and certification (end-to-end development) and operation of SMS and S&RE. The successful candidate must also possess knowledge of governing standards to include UAI Platform-Store ICD, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, AS5653, etc., and must possess some experience preparing detailed requirements specifications, statements of work, test plans and procedures, certification plans and procedures, performance reports, etc., related to these governing standards.

The successful candidate will be expected to thoroughly understand all system requirements, develop statements of work, specifications and interface control documents, prepare, monitor and update program schedules, conduct and participate in all related design reviews, and provide technical guidance to the cross-functional team.

This position can be filled at either a level 2 or level 3.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Weapons Integration Engineer: Must have at least 2 years of Engineering experience with a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM or 0 years of experience with a Master's Degree in a STEM.
  • Principal Weapons Integration Engineer: Must have at least 5 years of Engineering experience with a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM or 3 years of Engineering experience with a Master's Degree in a STEM.
  • Experience working with weapons and payload systems
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (within 4 year scope)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance as well as access to Special Programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Greater than 4 years of experience working with weapons and payload systems
  • In-depth knowledge of governing standards to include UAI Platform-Store ICD, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, AS5653
  • Active Secret clearance with access to Special Programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Salary Range: $87,000.00 - $130,800.00Salary Range 2: $107,300.00 - $160,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
