PURPOSE:

The Security Engineer is responsible for executing the enterprise-wide strategy to identify, implement, and support data protection solutions within the SECU environment. This hands-on position requires strong collaboration skills to work with cross functional teams to ensure the operational effectiveness of technology solutions in compliance with SECU’s information security policies, and regulatory obligations. The candidate will have the ability to identify, document and maintain security safeguards and configurations in a highly complex environment. Must have the ability to recognize, and appropriately incorporate layered security safeguards within the network, cloud, application, and data layers from a defender’s perspective.

DIMENSIONS: 

  • Identify, implement, and maintain technical security solutions to enhance SECU’s data protection posture. This includes creating and enhancing documentation of the architecture, processes and controls for improving the DLP program to ensure compliance with security requirements.
  • Participate in operational responsibility of security products within the data protection environment. This includes milestone planning, deployment coordination, change management, documentation, and user training of new and existing technologies.
  • Participate in Data Loss Prevention policy tuning and development based on data analysis of DLP incidents and new use cases.
  • Serve as a tier II resource for escalated DLP incidents and other security related issues or outages. This includes providing support for security related issues on 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year basis.
  • Work effectively with other Information Security teams to ensure technology security implementations are in alignment with organizational strategic goals and providing insight and expertise on Security Engineering subjects to cross-functional groups and stakeholders.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a cyber security engineering or analyst role
  • Experience providing technical support and troubleshooting in-depth issues for data loss prevention and data classification solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience working with tools such as Microsoft Purview, Proofpoint, Symantec, Digital Guardian, Zscaler DLP, etc.
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining DLP controls for data in use, in motion, and at rest.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with Security Architects, Principal Engineers, and Security Analysts to understand and implement services and policies based on requirements.
  • Ability to execute under pressure and quickly pivot between tasks while maintaining focus on primary projects and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with change management best practices and ability to follow them is required including familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
  • Working knowledge of various industry security standards and frameworks including CIS, MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, ISO 27001, ISF Standard of Good Practice (SoGP), etc.

Work Environment:

  • Remote working and remote options are available.
  • Office setting with physical proximity to other employees is also intermittently required. 
  • Some background noise from other employees and their activities can be expected.

  • Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.
  • Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.
  • Use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver.
  • Must be able to comprehend phone calls.
  • Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
