The DIRECTV Chief Data Office is looking for a creative, highly motivated Senior Director to drive innovation and provide thought leadership to an agile team of data product managers and engineers that develop data products to enable analytics, data visualization, machine learning and data driven decision making across our Marketing business teams.

We are currently migrating to the cloud and undergoing a paradigm shift, moving away from the monolithic data applications and technology aligned teams of the past, to a modern distributed data mesh framework with business aligned data products & teams.

This is the perfect opportunity to lead the transformation for a business domain leveraging the latest cloud analytics and data platforms in a fast paced and innovative environment. You will work closely with business teams across all areas of Marketing and operate with a high degree of autonomy to solve real-world problem and drive business value.

Here's what you'll do:

1. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of data product managers and engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable data products and solutions.

2. Strategy Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement multi-year data strategy aligned with business goals and objectives.

3. Data Mesh Implementation: Champion the adoption of data mesh framework to build flexible and scalable data products that enable self-service analytics and decentralized data ownership and access.

4. Dimensional Modeling: Implement dimensional modeling techniques to design and optimize data models for efficient analysis and reporting.

5. Product Development: Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment, ensuring alignment with stakeholder requirements and industry best practices.

6. Data Governance and Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.

7. Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor the performance of data products and solutions, identify areas for optimization, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

8. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization, including marketing, IT, and other business teams, to understand requirements, gather feedback, and prioritize roadmap initiatives.

9. Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with third-party vendors and technology partners to leverage external expertise and resources as needed.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 15+ years of experience as a successful data and analytics leader in a fast-moving business owning the strategic direction of the entire functional area and setting multiple year strategy.
  • Demonstrated history of high achievement thru education, leadership position(s) and other significant achievements.
  • Strong Communicator – articulate with an ability to communicate in a direct and clear manner; history of communication with C-level executives using oral, written, and presentation formats is preferred.
  • Strong technical proficiency in cloud analytics and data management technologies including Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka, Tableau, PowerBI and AWS analytics and data services.
  • Prior experience with DevOps and automation frameworks such as CI/CD to drive continuous process improvement and cost transformation.

This role requires, but is not limited to, approximately 10% travel.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $154,850 - $281,060

Low (N1): $154,850 - $232,180

Mid (N2): $163,000 - $244,400

High (N3): $179,300 - $268,840

Top (N4): $187,450 - $281,060
