Fleet Management and Technology is responsible for ship management of all Maersk owned container vessels. The operation is primarily conducted out of Copenhagen, Singapore, and Mumbai.

We are looking for a Finance Business Partner based in Copenhagen to join our global Business Finance team for Vessel Operations, which partners with the organization responsible for ensuring our fleet sails in a safe, reliable, energy efficient and cost-effective manner.

In this role, your mission is to drive strong performance management, provide financial analysis and recommendations, shape business decisions and be proudly recognised for your high engagement and energy you bring in optimizing processes.

You will work with our two Copenhagen-based fleet groups as well as the extended fleet of Maersk, who manages the day-to-day operations of approximately 170 container vessels. This includes also the container vessels sailing on green methanol which are marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to pioneering low-emissions shipping solutions and have a transformative impact on our ambition to decarbonize the industry.

Your main responsibilities will include financial and operational performance management, analysis, benchmarking, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and taking the lead in improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

You will own all financial data and deliver accurate and timely information for financial and KPI reporting, perform deep dives and benchmarking analysis and establish a strong link between insights from financial performance and recommended operational actions.

You will also be expected to drive improvement initiatives which will bring further data transparency, automation and will enable stronger data-driven decision making.

You have a strong presence across both CPH fleet groups and the extended fleet and provide financial insights to co-drive performance with operational colleagues.

Other key tasks:

  • Support business decisions through financial modeling and data-driven insights into both financial and operational performance, with recommended actions and by identifying and bringing synergies across the fleet
  • Be a sparring partner who challenges assumptions, providing forward looking, independently initiated analysis which highlights risks and opportunities
  • Drive cost saving initiatives and process improvements through constructive and continuous follow up with relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinate rolling forecast process, ensuring that both short and long-term strategic priorities are accommodated
  • Prepare periodic management reporting, including variance analysis, explanations, and related proposed actions
  • Drive process efficiencies and finance digital transformation through development of BI tools
  • Provide visibility to management on progression against strategic initiatives.
  • Deliver insights and recommendations relating to fleet group performance vs. benchmarks
  • Manage and ensure all necessary processes and controls are in place to ensure compliance.

Who we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree in Finance or Economics, combined with 5+ years of relevant work experience in finance positions.

You have expertise in the use of Excel & PowerPoint. Proficiency in the use of Power BI is an advantage.

  • Are fluent in written and spoken English.
