MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

・Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree with an expected graduation till March 2026

  • Must be in School until the end of internship program

・Must be available for a 3-month on-site internship in 2024

・Have no more than 24 months of professional full-time work experience in the technology field (excluding internships, research and/or teaching assistant roles, and military experience).

・International students who require visa support must meet one of the following requirements:

・The internship program is part of your education and essential for your graduation

・This internship allows you to receive some credit(s) for your education program

・Have Bachelor degree at the time of application

WORKING CONDITIONS

・Start Date: June 1, 2024, August 1, 2024

・Internship Duration: 3 months

・Expected work hours: 3-5 days on weekdays (24-40 hours/week)

・Salary: Hourly wage

・Work Location: Nihonbashi (Head office)

・Others:

・The program is expected to be onsite.

・International Students: Air tickets, visa support, and temporary housing will be provided.

・Japan-based Students (outside of Tokyo): Temporarily housing will be provided.

Toyota's Woven City is a fully connected ecosystem powered by hydrogen fuel cells to be built at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan. It is envisioned as a 'living laboratory' and 'ever evolving', incorporating a diversity of cutting-edge technologies. It will be the world's most programmable city. At the same time, it is also 'human-centric', serving the needs of its citizens and keeping people safe, comfortable, and happy.

Our mission is to create the digital heart of Woven City: a software platform called "CityOS". All digitally connected services in the city will be orchestrated and delivered on this platform. The technical challenge is huge, and includes creating state-of-the-art systems for collaborating microservices, identity, authentication, privacy, security, data broking, IoT control, and much more. The platform will be open to third-party inventors who will collaborate with us to unlock the potential of the world's smartest city.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for internship students who are passionate about technology and how it can transform the world into a better place.

Our team offers service developers in the city the functionality to develop more easily and securely, so if you are interested in keywords including, but not limited to user management, authentication, authorization, consent, data protection, we encourage you to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will work closely with City OS engineers to participate and develop systems, including document City OS requirements, architecture, design, code, and tests.
  • You will collaborate with teams who are building digital services, and help them get the most out of the City OS.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in programming in one or more of the following languages: Go, Java, JavaScript, Python, Rust, or TypeScript.
  • Good communication, a proactive mindset, and strong problem identification and solving skills.
  • Proficiency in conversational-level English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • One or more of the following cloud services: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Container orchestration and service meshes.
  • API design and implementation with OpenAPI/gRPC technologies.
  • Software testing methodologies
  • Experience in software development following GitHub flow
  • Proficiency in conversational-level Japanese.
