Position Overview

The KIPP NYC Senior Director of HRA/People Operations is an essential leadership role on the People team responsible for leading our efforts to connect our employees using technology, applications and data in an effortless, secure, and timely manner. The Senior Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive HR technology strategy that supports the organization’s goals and objectives. 

The Senior Director will lead our regional HRA Team responsible for HR Administration, the HRIS, Benefits, Payroll, and current HR technology with the goal of optimizing HR software and tools to improve various HR processes. Additionally, the Senior Director will be responsible for identifying, presenting, and analyzing HR data to provide valuable insights for decision-making and strategic planning. This role will also partner with the regional teams, especially the Finance team and Technology Team to maximize efficiency and accuracy of our collaborative processes.

This position reports directly to the Chief People Officer and manages a team of HR professionals. A successful candidate will drive seamless integration and alignment of HR technology solutions while building strong relationships with a variety of school based and regional stakeholders across the KIPP NYC. This job is ideal for a senior HR leader, who is passionate about staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in HR technology and data analytics and also interested in leading improvements in HR processes using data-driven decision-making capabilities.

This role is based in NYC and may require travel to our schools. Cadence and frequency of travel to schools is determined by your leadership team. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or out of the state of NY, your employment will be subject to review, which may include separation from KIPP NYC. It is important that you notify HR if you move or have plans to relocate.

What you will do? 

General duties and responsibilities are as follows, but not limited to 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive HR technology and data strategy aligned with the People Team and the organization’s overall goals and HR objectives. 
  • Assess current HR tools and systems landscape, identify gaps and areas for improvement, provide training and support to users, and drive adoption across the organization.
  • Lead the HRA Team, including HR Administration, the HRIS, Benefits, Payroll, and HR Data, and foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment to provide top tier customer service to the region
  • Drive the integration and optimization of current HR tools and systems (HRIS, ATS and Performance Management) to streamline HR processes and improve self-service for our employees and managers.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations to protect employee data and maintain data integrity
  • Analyze HR data and systems, identify technology solutions, and provide data-driven insights and recommendations to present to People Team leaders, Senior Regional leaders, and stakeholders 
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts for HR technology solutions.
  • Stay current with HR technology trends and best practices, and continuously assess and improve the organization’s HR technology capabilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 8-10 years of experience in Human Resources and/or HR predictive analytics and insights. Experience with leading a HR transformation project is preferred. 
  • Atleast 5 five years of experience leading a team at the Director or above level.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget.
  • Experience with project management (planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience synthesizing and summarizing the data to identify insights to business outcomes, and communicating or presenting findings to leadership.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and or print scaling).
  • At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
  • This role is NYC based and will require commuting to our NYC office and schools.

Additional Information

Compensation and Benefits:

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary for this role ranging from $132,000 to $150,000 per year. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band.
