As we take the next step in the growth of our company and our Marketing Team, we are increasing our investment in Event Marketing, with an emphasis on PagerDuty-hosted customer events, third-party conferences (e.g., AWS re:Invent, Dreamforce), and exclusive “top-to-top” executive experiences. We are looking for a Director with outstanding business acumen, strong executive presence, exceptional managerial skills, and relevant experience managing events and events teams to lead our North America Events & Experiences Team. The ideal candidate is someone with outstanding business acumen, a strong executive presence, exceptional managerial and team leadership skills, and experience driving pipeline, revenue, and brand relevance through the design and delivery of best-in-class events and experiences.

You’ll lead at all levels – taking the lead on aligning the PagerDuty Executive team on your strategy and plans and working side-by-side with teams across the company to execute outstanding experiences for our audiences. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop an inspiring, practical vision and strategy for how PagerDuty will build relevance and drive business outcomes with Enterprise customers and Executive-level buyers (CIO, CTO) through events and experiences in North America
  • Design a portfolio of events and experiences that drives pipeline, delivers ROI, and empowers our team to execute the best work of their careers
  • Work directly with the PagerDuty executive team to gain alignment on strategy and priorities, and build relationships with our executive leaders (CEO, CPDO, CIO, CTO, CMO) who will play critical roles building relationships at our “top-to-top” events with Enterprise customer executives
  • Build and execute events and experiences that align to sales and marketing priorities, including conferences, localized events, executive experiences, and partner activations
  • Drive successful cross-functional collaboration with sales, demand gen, content marketing, creative, product marketing, marketing ops, and other internal teams and external partners
  • Develop bold, distinctive, creative activations that produce a “must attend” experience for attendees and that continually raise the bar for the experience of the PagerDuty brand 
  • Develop events and experiences with and for our strategic partners at AWS, Salesforce, GSIs, and consulting partners 
  • Lead planning sessions with key stakeholders to solicit input on goals and ideas and to provide consistent, clear, timely communication 
  • Take the lead on critical pre- and post-event initiatives, including promotion, sales outreach, vendor management, celebrity/guest management, and lead tracking
  • Own the measurement and evaluation of programming (ROI, efficiency, relevance) as well as the recommendations for what to stop/start/continue with a view of what’s working well and less well

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years in Enterprise B2B SaaS marketing with experience in customer-facing events, with involvement in digital marketing, partner marketing, and/or customer marketing
  • 3+ years leading an events team within a marketing team a marketing function, with experience managing multiple projects at one time within established timelines
  • A proven track record of leading events from initial objective-setting through development, execution, and measurement
  • A proven track record of building credibility and maintaining relationships with C-Level executives and go-to-market teams across a company and at its customers
  • An uncanny ability to inspire buy-in and motivate a team to execute successfully and enthusiastically, and to grow and develop direct reports
  • Excellent writing, cross-functional collaboration, and influence skills
  • A data-driven, ROI-focused mindset, strong knowledge of how to apply funnel and pipeline metrics to the events motion, and fluency in reporting on business impact
  • A strategic yet scrappy approach to working – you love being able to set the vision and see the big picture, and also execute alongside your team and put in the work to drive outstanding results 
  • Ability to travel as needed to support event execution (10-15%)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A clear vision and distinctive POV for what next-generation event experiences can look like for executive attendees (including planning, content, the creative process, the pre- and post-event experience, etc.) 
  • A deep passion for brand and bringing brand to life through outstanding customer experiences
  • Experience with Marketo, Salesforce, Demandbase, and other marketing tools
  • Tenacious, energized, curious and enthusiastic self-starter; ability to multi-task and take direction/input
  • The base salary range for this position is 158,000 - 241,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.
  • Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
