At Candance 3, we work with clients that are changing the way we communicate, collaborate, and connect globally. We deliver business and event management consulting to some of the largest tech companies in the industry. Our company is woman owned by former consultants who wished we could have worked for ourselves when we were consulting.

We are seeking 1-2 motivated and energetic artist(s) responsible for video/motion graphic designers for crafting compelling video/motion designs to solve an array of marketing needs. You’ll be part of the critical creative Motion Graphic team with an emphasis on corporate video/motion graphic product marketing in the technology (software, devices, platform) and education spaces.

This freelance based role will create video/motion graphic content and assets for use in corporate product marketing videos across a wide variety of media, including conference sessions, digital content, social media, mobile platforms, and emerging media. The role has the strong potential to move to a full-time employee role with benefits if of mutual interest. This role will work with our larger studio team of driven and creative video production professionals, supporting company goals and media initiatives, meaning that a collaborative mindset is a value add.

Many of our projects fall around critical launch motions and event deadlines with new or emerging products, so an ability to operate with speed, accuracy, and efficiency under tight deadlines is a huge value add.

Freelancers can be remote, but need to overlap part or all of workday with Pacific Time Zone to join meetings, calls, or collaborate with team.

The role:

  • Partner closely with Creative Director(s), Art Director(s) designers, copywriters, marketers, and producers to plan and execute projects from concept to final production and postproduction.
  • Experience presenting work to executive partners or clients
  • Bring designs and narratives to life effectively, using principles of animation and modern animation techniques.
  • Collaborate with production team to best support larger media goals
  • Take initiative on projects to propose innovative solutions
  • Adhere to brand guidelines in ways that still push creative boundaries
  • Participate in our design culture to align styles and refine work through team feedback
  • A never-ending desire to learn new techniques and technology to advance your craft

Responsibilities:

  • Operate with expediency and urgency to move from draft / concept to final quickly 
  • Interpret scripts and develop concepts for animations
  • Superb visual and conceptual skills to solve problems and create novel solutions
  • Create visually stunning video assets and content to support the script narrative and video content (intro, outro, and transition motion graphics aligned to client or event branding)
  • Create sketches, artwork, illustrations, and assets according to project brand style
  • Create storyboards and mood boards
  • Create motion graphics explainer animations (animatics)
  • Create Motion Graphic Templates (MOGRTS), slates, backgrounds and animated backwall transitions for easy use by other team members and client teams Design for live events
  • Work with editors to bring together the layers of animation, including backgrounds and graphics
  • Work alongside printers, copywriters, photographers, designers, account executives, website designers or marketing specialists

Required skills:

  • Prior experience with and a strong portfolio of motion graphics work
  • Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Experience matching existing brand look and feel for different clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work in several different animation styles
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate with urgency and expediency 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Love of highly variable types of tasks
  • Good sense of timing and screen composition
  • Experience working in a post house, ad agency, or similar deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and under close direction
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Not required, but nice to have skills:

  • Experience in creating figma files, 3-D renders and rotoscoping a huge bonus
  • Experience with character animation in After Effects
  • Experience with Cinema 4D, Blender or Houdini
  • Strong print design skills
  • Experience with color correction, special effects, and music selection
