Summary

Engineering Manager Level 1 will be involved in all MTA C&D Stations Business Unit project lifecycle phases, including planning, scheduling, analysis, design, technical specifications, and reports.

Responsibilities

The role will entail some of these typical duties:

Designs/supervises various aspects of a project for the MTA C&D Stations Business Unit

.

Performs technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing historical data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to create innovative engineering design projects.

Reviews designs, tests, assesses materials and performs/reviews engineering calculations.

Conducts site visits to obtain existing conditions and correctly identify design and construction risks.

Plans and coordinates required permitting and approval documentation that supports their designs.

Embraces mentoring from senior staff.

Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the discipline.

Coordinates with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering

Must have a minimum of six (6) years of related experience

Must have a minimum of two (2) years in management in a project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.

Competencies:

A registered NYS Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.

Experience performing site inspections, documenting site conditions and construction activities, coordinating with Agency Owner and contractor staff, and responding to contractor requests for information.

Knowledge of the capital design and construction process.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Proficiency in current design and engineering software is required.

Experience visiting the field for initial scope/survey and construction oversight preferred.
