Senior Software Engineer – Java

for our Technology Department

Your place in the team 

Completes application/service developments in a microservice based, containerized environment by coordinating requirements, schedules and activities, contributing to team meetings, troubleshooting development, test and production issues across multiple environments and operating platforms. Supports testing activities and handover to Operation Department. Activities include 3rd line maintenance, issue and incident tracking aligned with SLA’s. Updates knowledge by researching new technologies and software products.

You will be involved in the following tasks 

  • Design and implement Java based micro-services for various front-end applications to support business and IT architecture requirements
  • Support the team of consumer systems
  • Coordinate and support the work of medior and junior colleagues
  • Review pull requests of peers and junior colleagues
  • Integrate microservices to backend APIs provided on an API Gateway
  • Participate in every aspect of development and implementation, working with end users (product owners) to fully understand business requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Vodafone policies and procedures
  • Prepare high- and low-level technical documentation (HLD, IFA, swagger)
  • Estimate the development effort by requirements and projects
  • Work in teams using various development methodologies – agile, waterfall
  • Support testing activities (functional and non-functional tests in all relevant project phases)
  • Investigate and fix defects and incidents during development and application lifecycle
  • Make software architecture-related decisions independently
  • Cooperate wiith DevOps team in CI/CD design
  • Work in agile team environment
  • Prepare release packages for test and production environment

We are looking for you if you have 

  • IT specific university degree OR developer qualification
  • Intermediate level in English both spoken and written
  • 5+ years’ experience in software industry, especially Java development
  • Experience in Java (preferably Java 11), Springboot
  • Experience in caching methodologies and tools (Redis)
  • Understanding of container-based environment (Docker, OpenShift etc.)
  • RDBMS programming: SQL, Pl/SQL (preferably Oracle), PostgreSQL
  • Unit testing, including use of mocking frameworks
  • Good knowledge of Network Communication/Integration solutions (REST JSON)
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps in general.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD supporting tools (Artifactory, Azure)
  • Ability to estimate time for his/her and the teams work precisely
  • Able to identify and re-factor incorrect architectures in unfamiliar codes
  • Highly motivated focused on business’ needs
  • Practical experience in design and development
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to learn the fast-track technologies in the Digital world
  • Good organizational skills with ability to manage time and prioritize workload
  • Ability to rapidly understand and assimilate new concepts
  • Innovative and proactive approach
