The Role: Pre-Sales Engineer – C&RS Sales Team

The Team: This is an exciting opportunity to join the Credit and Risk Solutions Sales Team, a focused and dynamic team with the opportunity to build on the last few years of significant growth and product development within the C&RS Business. 

The Impact: The C&RS business has a strategic plan to be a $1B business globally by 2026 and is a significant contributor to the overall growth of the Market Intelligence (MI) Division. The product suite is a critical piece of this growth story as the distribution channel for Ratings proprietary content and a provider of models and workflow tools to underpin the Credit Workflow for rated and unrated borrowers, counterparties, customers and suppliers. C&RS has senior executive commitment to invest where needed to fuel these growth expectations. 

We are at the forefront of solving new challenges for clients as the market and regulatory landscape continues to change. For example: 

  • Helping clients establish robust frameworks for integrating ESG factors into their Credit Assessment frameworks and understanding the potential impact of ESG on their credit portfolios 
  • RatingsDirect’s rich and timely research helps customers understand the potential impact on credit markets of current global themes such as inflation, rising default rates, and regional conflicts.
  • Many rely on historical ratings performance in times of economic turmoil to feed into future scenario modeling 
  • Credit Analytics and ProSpread underpin large global corporations moving toward customer and supplier credit assessment workflow automation 
  • Credit Assessment Scorecards allow our clients to provide in-depth credit analyses of their biggest and most challenging exposures

What’s in it for you:

This is a critical role in the C&RS Sales organization. The Pre Sales Engineers provide deep subject matter expertise to support renewal and new business conversations.

As a Pre-Sales Engineer you will be part of a dynamic team supporting a team of C&RS Sales Specialists as they renew existing and sell new business. The team supports both the CS (RatingsDirect, RatingsXpress, Creditpro and LEVELS) products and the CA (Credit Analytics, ProSpread, Climate Credit Analytics and Scorecards) business. You will provide day to day support to the sales specialists to build and maintain customer relationships and develop product expertise in the C&RS suite.

As the C&RS business grows, there will be opportunities for growth in the C&RS Pre - Sales Engineer team and beyond.

Responsibilities:

You will be supporting the Sales Specialists as they find and progress new sales opportunities, and articulate the value of the C&RS suite to secure renewals and renewal price increases.

Specifically

  • Providing support to diagnostic credit conversations, and leading deeper dive product demonstrations
  • Answering technical product questions, bringing in level 2 and 3 product support where appropriate
  • Coordinating and conducting proof of concept demonstrations
  • Contributing to Commercial Education with product, persona and other training for Sales Specialists and other stakeholders
  • Idea generation for outreach campaigns; identifying targets and helping design the outreach talk track or emails for the Sales Specialists and Prospecting teams
  • Providing and coordinating initial post sale client training, in collaboration with customer success and client services who support our customers on an ongoing basis
  • Developing thought leadership pieces for webinars, articles, and blogs on current credit events, demonstrating the power of the C&RS suite of tools to help clients navigate such events
  • Providing product feedforward to the product teams from observations in the field, and engaging in product enhancement prioritization, planning and testing workstreams
  • Staying informed on current industry and economic events impacting our clients and the relevance of our products

What We’re Looking For:

The C&RS sales organization value partnership, relationships and communication. It is crucial that you model these attributes. In addition, we are looking for:

  • A commercial mindset and a genuine interest in and ability to learn about credit workflows and personas, developing the industry specific knowledge necessary to problem solve for the Sales Specialists
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Analytical curiosity and willingness to dive deep into understanding our products and answering technical questions
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. accounting, business or finance) and 3+ years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office and using CRM systems

Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US candidates):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $72,000 to $143,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
