Job Title: Jr. Retail Marketing Manager 

Function: Retail Marketing

Reporting to: Reports to Sr. Retail Marketing Manager

Main purpose

Helps in developing insight-based shopper marketing solutions for Retail Environment Innovation and Customer Collaboration to build volume, market share, and category growth for Colgate’s business.

Responsible for Marketing activation and touch point expertise for Oral Care category in the country.

Implementation of the activity grid and new product Go to Market for the category that is developed by Consumer Experience department in the Hub.

Helps in developing Retail Environment strategies and 5P’s based on Category and Brand Strategies and on robust Retail Environment shopper and customer insight. Provide input on retailer perspective in commercial process

Also provides input in monthly discipline for Oral Care category.

Estimated travels

10-15% - At least one store check per month, at least one meeting with customer per quartile

Main responsibilities

Category / Retail Environment Strategy / Customer engagement

  • Provides input to Sr. Retail Marketing Manager to develop Category / Retail Environment Strategy and Retail Environment’s prioritization in terms of the level of investment & applied solutions.
  • Provides input to 5P Category & Brand Strategies by Retail Environment and Customer.
  • Builds shopper Insights for Retail Environment and/or customer expertise, supports the Sr. Retail Marketing Manager for insights prioritization. 

Local Commercial Activation

  • Activates Category Growth Drivers in the customers plans, Retail Category Development process, shopper marketing programs.
  • Participates in the development of shopper marketing programs: Retail Environment Innovation and Customer Collaboration based on insights.
  • Implements brand activation and category demand creation, the activity grid and new product Go to Market for the subsidiary that is developed by Consumer Marketing Hub.
  • Builds expertise on touch points for Marketing activation planning and execution and to adapt the Marketing plans by Retail Environment and Customers
  • Participates in the development of tools, merchandising materials and in-store programs for effective shelf management and for inducing shoppers to purchase company products in-store for the category.
  • Participates in the development of impactful and relevant presentations and tools (5P’s tools, trade stories, New Product activation programs, etc) to execute the plans for Sales Team.
  • Is providing input for pre and post analyses of promotions, supports the process of archiving of performance history
  • Conducts regular trade visits, communicates findings & recommendations by category & brand for key customers.
  • Supports the area of In Store Management, including 5P’s communication to the Merchandisers and Field team, excellence in store execution and 5P’s monitoring
  • Provides translations and approves the packaging art-works ensuring legal compliance
  • Leads media copy (TVC, digital, etc) translation and adaptation including legal approvals

Financial accountabilities

  • Delivers budgeted Category & Brand Market Share, Net Sales & Operating Profit for the category in the country. 
  • Support Sr RM in analyzing Margin growth / Sales Price Increase across categories, brands, key customers
  • Supports the CD team to deliver customer-specific Profit&Loss for category.
  • Executes promotional (A&P) budget acc. to the guidelines (embed in commercial process).
  • Actively supports SKU simplification with cross-functional team including CS&L, Finance, Customer Development leader & Country Managers

Budgeting & Planning

  • Inputs to the processes related to Budget Review/Mid-Year Review Volume plan & Financial Goals according to the agreed responsibilities.
  • Gives input to the budget process regarding the country promotion (A&P) budget & Consumer Gross-to-Net spending for the category. 
  • Gives input in monthly discipline for a particular category, based on the commercial process
  • Works with Sr Retail Marketing Manager and Customer Dev Managers’ to analyze Net Sales & Share Of Market evolution and develops recommendations to accelerate growth or address gaps for key customers

Retail Category Development

  • Supports Retail Category Development process through development of the category shopper solutions / breakthrough initiatives for selective customers.

Others

  • Acting in accordance with “Competition Law” and “Commercial Selling Principles”
  • Follows the other requests of the supervisor within the area of responsibilities

Range of Qualifications

Level of Education: College/University

Years of Experience (range): marketing/shopper marketing: 2-3 years

Functional Experience and Technical Skills:

  1. Experience in Consumer marketing to build the expertise on marketing implementation and to understand touch points priorities 
  2. Commercial (retailer and brand) awareness to work together w/ Retail Environment managers and Customer Development team to recommend the shopper programs relevant to grow the business
  3. Knowledge on the how to get insights and how to transform into action
  4. Able to build good relationship w/ Customer Development team and Marketing to implement the Mkt strategies from the Hub, to adapt the activity grid and achieve the business objectives
  5. Proven ability to provide inputs (good communication skills) in the monthly commercial process and the marketing activity grid
  6. Financial knowledge (Profit&Loss) to recommend initiatives that brings financial results and understanding the impact on the business and ROI
