The Finance Manager is responsible for accurate and timely Fund and Project reporting, management of statutory reporting, audit, debt and tax compliance across a range of Funds and entities and continuous process improvement across the finance department. The Finance Manager will support the Director - Finance & Corporate in servicing the business units by the provision of technical accounting and tax advice and financial analytics applied to commercial transactions that enhances decision making in the business and managing compliance risk with regulatory bodies and stakeholders. The role will suit a candidate who wishes to grow into a leadership position, be a driver of positive change, contribute to building on the strengths of Altis’s organisational culture and be instrumental in developing a finance team as the business grows.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Finance and Professional Accounting qualification
  • 10+ years accounting experience.
  • Experience with large accounting systems e.g. MRI.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (Intermediate-Advanced).
  • Team player

Desirable

  • Funds management or property industry experience
  • People management experience

Skills, Attributes and Knowledge

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting consolidation, accounting standards and tax compliance
  • Strong attention to detail particularly in relation to reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and with many stakeholders.
  • Responsive, open and pro-active communicator.
  • Exceptional time management and planning skills.

Desirable

  • Some knowledge and understanding of the funds management and property industry.

Key Responsibilities

Fund/Project Accounting

  • Monthly management accounting for funds/projects including journal entries, reconciliations, consolidations, IFRS reporting and project control group reporting.
  • Project variance analysis
  • Quarterly unit price investor reporting
  • Statutory reporting and audit
  • Quality control review of financial reporting for other funds/projects
  • Preparation of technical accounting papers and awareness of latest accounting and tax legislation
  • Maintenance of a Fund/Project accounting policies working document and continuous documentation of procedures.
  • Attendance at PCG meetings and Property Management meetings
  • Debt compliance testing and drawdowns
  • Cashflow forecasting for funds/projects
  • Capex reporting
  • Maintain Fund/Project dashboard reporting

Tax compliance

  • Including but not limited to GST, BAS lodgement, withholding tax calculations, annual tax statements, income tax returns, AIIR filings, CGT calculations, cost base register maintenance
  • Quality control review of tax compliance of other funds/projects

Other

  • Comply with Altis’ policies and procedures including the Finance team’s SOP.
  • Support all Altis employees with project queries.
  • Other adhoc requests

Process Improvement

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to ensure continual improvement to the finance team’s procedures, through the use of technology and adoption of best practice processes.
  • Contribute to new system implementations
