Title and Summary

Manager, Strategy – Strategy, Excellence, and Operations Team (APEMEA President's Office)

Manager, Strategy will work with teams across SEO, BUs and regions within APEMEA to identify and implement strategic solutions in response to business/industry challenges and/or opportunities. This individual will be responsible for leading key workstreams and collaborating with cross-functional project teams to demonstrate meaningful impact on APEMEA’s key strategic priorities.

In the role, the individual is expected to own the workstream execution E2E which will involve defining/aligning on the problem statement, gathering and analysing the right information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing and communicating recommendations. The manager will also present results to APEMEA senior executives to influence key decisions and implement recommendations in collaboration with relevant team members.

Reporting to: Director, Strategy – Strategy, Excellence and Operations Team

Key responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the development of APEMEA’s execution framework against global strategy
  • Participate in the identification of key strategic priorities for APEMEA
  • Develop a project roadmap to meet strategic targets and financial promises of the APEMEA teams

Strategic Priorities Execution:

  • Structure ambiguous business and market issues into a cohesive plan of action
  • Lead key projects with participation from subject matter experts and regional teams within APEMEA e.g. B2B strategy
  • Synthesize clear insights and recommendations from complex information using both quantitative and qualitative methods
  • “Storyboard” and develop visually compelling presentations with clear logic and structure

Stakeholder Management:

  • Work effectively with diverse teams to come up with the best solution and motivate people and APEMEA functions / regions into action
  • Establish trust-based relationships with internal clients to better serve their organisations
  • Communicate effectively with all audiences, including senior leaders, in a structured manner

Leadership:

  • Develop your leadership style, leveraging your own passions, strengths, and personal values

Key skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university with consistent outstanding academic record; Advanced degree or MBA is preferred
  • 5+ years of business management or consulting experience in a reputed company
  • Proven record of high performance and substantial achievements in your past positions
  • Solid functional knowledge of the business and industry
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem solving skills
  • Initiative taker, eager to break new ground, create opportunities for others
  • Demonstrated ability to action thoughtful risk-taking, demonstrating the Mastercard way
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Flexible and creative, able to not only adapt but also thrive in a constantly changing environment
  • Hunger for curiosity: eager to learn about new topics and apply business acumen to drive impact
  • Fluency in English
