The Crew Chief will be based at one of three Amentum sites in Iraq and serve the Base Life Support Services (BLiSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for utilizing resources to accomplish operational requirements and will report to the Assistant Site Chief. The additional duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
  • Supervise assigned Fire and Emergency Service personnel during both emergency and non-emergency situations, ensuring operational readiness of assigned personnel and equipment.
  • Lead assigned personnel during activities such as: training, work details, crew- level administration, fire prevention, public education and communications.
  • May assume roles and responsibilities of the Assistant Site Chief during periods of absence, if qualified.
  • Serve as a structural and airport firefighter, and HAZMAT responder on a scheduled rotation.
  • Participate in Fire and Emergency Services activities including: fire suppression, EMS, rescue, public assistance, fire investigation, fire prevention, pre-fire planning, Fire Company training, public education, clinical training and routine maintenance of apparatus, equipment and facilities.
  • Support Emergency Management functions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:
  • One (1) to five (5) years’ Fire Fighting experience.
  • One (1) year experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of ALL principles and processes involved in Fire and Emergency Services, with the ability to maintain all required certifications and licensures.
  • Exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.
  • Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.
  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED.
  • Passport, Licenses and Certifications:
  • As part of pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts, candidates must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages.
  • Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record.
  • DoD First Responder and CPR Certifications.
  • DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard:
  • Fire Officer I
  • Fire Instructor I
  • Fire Inspector I
  • Fire Fighter I
  • Fire Fighter II
  • Airport Fire Fighter
  • Apparatus Driver/Operator for Pumper, Mobile Water Supply, and ARFF vehicles
  • HazMat Awareness and Operations
  • Security Vetting: Already possess a US Government issued security clearance or be able to obtain a favorable US Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification or clearance level for the duration of the contract.
  • Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.
  • Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.

DESIRED:

  • DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard Fire Officer II.
  • DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard HazMat Incident Commander.
  • Two (2) years’ international experience in challenging locations, preferably working in the Middle East, with a working knowledge of customs and cultural differences.
  • Experience working with Amentum /PAE.
