Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Senior Director, Regional Information Security Office (RISO), this role, Regional Information Security Officer, will be responsible for creating PowerPoint presentations, analyzing metrics, following up with individuals to resolve documentation issues, analyzing spreadsheets, liaising between business’ people of all levels and our technology department, problem solving, answering queries and facilitating regulatory compliance. Relationship management skills are critical, as much of the work is performed by managing through influence.

What will you do?

The RISO organization is responsible for working with business representatives to facilitate appropriate security controls are in place. The individual in this position will be responsible for understanding the RISO Roadmap and driving its implementation across the business lines.

The Roadmap and business as usual activities include:

  • Regulatory reporting, including facilitating the creation of the executive and detailed evidence documentation for NYDFS, GLBA, SEC and FEDWIRE certifications
  • Regulatory Exam Support.
  • Creating board decks and speaking notes
  • Designing Tabletop exercises.
  • Maintaining Line of Business Incident Management Guides.
  • Reviewing data quality and cyber hygiene deficiencies and working with application custodians, data owners and others to resolve the issues.
  • Facilitating the creation of risk assessments, particularly those used for NYDFS and GLBA support
  • Spearheading the user access attestation program, including developing procedures, working to achieve consensus across stakeholders and those implementing the procedure, and reviewing to ensure compliance
  • Coordinating across technology and business lines to achieve IT Asset inventories by business/country, backup/restore procedures by application and other IT/Cyber initiatives
  • Enhancing Tableau dashboards and facilitating issue resolution and new graph implementations

Candidate must be comfortable analyzing large amounts of information, so strong data management and exceptional Excel formulas, macros and pivot table skills are a must. The position also requires the applicant to prepare solid executive presentations with information communicated in a way that is easy to understand.

Applicant is expected to be able to work independently, following established best practices and developing new procedures. The position is hands-on, with a significant number of meetings using Webex as constituents are located globally. 

The ideal leader will have extensive Technology and Cyber Risk industry relevant experience. Qualifications and certifications in risk management / technology /cyber risk, and/or information security are preferred.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate for this role will focus on:

  • Interacting with IT Risk resources across the Bank, helping them analyze and resolve their cyber hygiene deficiencies;
  • Facilitating the identification of compensating controls and documenting the gaps in a way that they can be understood and remediated;
  • Creating 1LOD robust insights driven by IT Risk reporting and defining global, T&O, and regional cyber IT Risk metrics (KRIs, KPIs);
  • Promoting the importance of prudent risk management practices with internal RBC partners and within third party communities.
  • Evolving processes, technologies and people
  • Defining clear R&R and engagement models with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Focusing on continuous monitoring and agile re-assessment services;
  • Evaluating, recommending, and implementing new technology solutions to drive further due diligence and efficiencies;
  • Partnering with stakeholder (2/3 LODs, legal, SMOs, etc.) to ensure end-to-end processes in RBC are effective;
  • Aligning assessments and issue management capabilities to drive risk remediation and proactive risk management.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • Strong data management and exceptional Excel formulas, macros and pivot table skills.
  • Knowledge of how to prepare solid executive presentations with information communicated in a way that is easy to understand.
  • 5 or more years demonstrated experience in a large scale Information Security, Technology Risk or Compliance environments
  • Ability to partner with diverse stakeholders in complex scenarios with excellent liaison, communication, influence and presentation skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Certification/Membership in a Risk/Control organization such as ISACA, RIMS, CISSP.
  • Strong organizational awareness, business acumen, and customer orientation.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $150,000 - $250,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
