The Senior Director, Business Development in ETS’ Research division will be responsible for leading business development that will advance ETS’ presence and participation in government funded work that leverages ETS core strengths in education, research, teaching, learning, and assessment. This includes, but is not limited to, the US Department of Education’s technical assistance networks, centers, and laboratories. The Senior Director, however, will be expected to explore government-funded contract opportunities beyond the Department of Education that will also provide for business opportunities leverage ETS’ core areas of expertise and capabilities.

Important components of this business development leadership will include building networks and relationships with stakeholders in the government and other constituencies such as state departments and educational organizations; representing and advocating for ETS’ expertise and capabilities in appropriate and effective venues; and driving internal solutioning and planning for scoping and bidding activities.

Key to this role will be developing and maintaining strong and effective business development relationships both internal at ETS and external with potential partners, clients, and constituents. It will be imperative for the person in this role to understand deeply ETS’ technical capabilities and capacities –and to connect those with appropriate business opportunities across government agencies.

The Senior Director, Business Development will work closely with leaders in ETS Research and with business leaders across the organization to ensure business pursuits are aligned with financial goals, capabilities, capacity, and overall mission/objectives of the ETS and the Research Division.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve pipeline management objectives regarding account growth and annual revenue goals.
  • Lead specific business development deals to successful closure working cohesively across internal and external parties.
  • Represent business development in growth initiatives to bring “voice of the customer” while incorporating a focus on service delivery.
  • Direct coordination efforts for business partnerships domestically and internationally.
  • Develop contractual terms to include pricing for IP licensing in cooperation with Research, Business Units, Legal and Finance.
  • Act as primary lead managing ETS’ Research Division’s representation by Business Development team at targeted conferences/seminars.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function.

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in business or associated concentrations. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading successful business development efforts both domestic and international. Experience in creating and closing business development and partnership arrangements, contract negotiations and P/L responsibilities. Significant experience in business development, partnership arrangements and mutually beneficial business agreements.
