Who You'll Work With

You will be based in our Wroclaw office as part of our Orpheus team within our Client Capabilities Network (CCN).

Our more than 2,500 client capabilities professionals across the globe work alongside our consultants to deliver change that matters to our clients. They support our consultant teams, both remotely and at client sites, in an agile and targeted way. Further, they are core to our firm’s R&D, developing new knowledge and building and refining proprietary capabilities (e.g., assets, data sets), as well as curating, managing, and maintaining them. Our portfolio includes state-of-the-art research, asset-backed and rapid diagnostics, benchmarking, and workflow support. Our professionals have deep expertise and are able to apply a broad range of methodologies for specialized on-demand analyses. 

Orpheus infuses best-in-class technology and AI-based analytics with deep supply-market and category-sourcing expertise. You’ll be part of a team that is a core element of the digitally-enabled procurement function of the future. This will involve all business value chain activities from product development to distribution and playing a strategic role in managing budgets and costs, anticipating and mitigating supply risk, driving compliance and generating transparency to external spend in an organization. Orpheus combines service and software, that elevate the focus of spend analytics, creating actionable insights to guide procurement strategy development and execution. 

What You'll Do

You will drive categorization and the supplier line of business identification for raw spend data grouping, as well as taking an active role in refinement workshops with our clients, improving the overall degree of spend allocation. 

In this role, you will bring in knowledge and interpret research findings using the Orpheus tool and techniques that are unique to McKinsey. You’ll collaborate and actively contribute to the workflow/activities within the team, both internally as well as our clients. You will also have a chance to develop an understanding of procurement processes and analytics.

This internship program will enhance your professional and personal development through mentoring and coaching sessions with tenured colleagues. The internship will last up to 12 months with a minimum of 25 work hours per week. You will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent role depending on the success of your internship. 

Qualifications

  • University student (2nd - 5th year) studying mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, business administration, business analytics or engineering 
  • Previous experience with procurement is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Excel 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Consistent, collaborative, and energetic attitude 
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to work in an international environment 
  • Fluent in English, any additional language capability is a plus
