Principal Data Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Data Scientist to join our team. This is an impactful and rewarding position and is ideal for candidates with a strong background in machine learning and data science. The successful candidate will be instrumental in applying problem-solving skills and technical expertise to real-world challenges, directly impacting the company’s business goals. This position offers a unique opportunity to transition from technical expertise to leadership and management roles. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement sophisticated machine learning models and algorithms.
  • Manage the full machine learning pipeline, including data collection, preprocessing, development, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate technical solutions into business operations.
  • Analyze extensive datasets to identify trends and patterns, and preprocess data for enhanced model accuracy and efficiency.
  • Proactively address complex business challenges using machine learning techniques and innovate creative solutions to improve the company’s operations.
  • Stay current with advancements in machine learning and engage in research for new methodologies applicable to the business objectives. 
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and interns, display leadership qualities, and participate in strategic decision-making as part of the leadership development track.

Qualifications

  • Master or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a closely related field (strongly preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in machine learning, particularly in designing and implementing models in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and familiarity with machine learning frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, data structures, and software development principles.
  • Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms is an advantage.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated potential for leadership and management capabilities.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $124,400 - $235,700 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
