Swedish Learning Designer (remote)

Overview

We are looking for a freelance, Swedish-speaking Learning Designer (LD) to help develop great online content that will enable learners to improve their Swedish proficiency level.

The LD will be tasked with creating engaging, CEFR-level appropriate content that leverages the power of Catalyst Editor, EF’s own authoring tool selected for this project.

Location: UK / Europe / North America / South America / Asia / Australasia.

This role requires you to work remotely from your own location, for which you will need reliable access to high-speed internet.

About the role

You will:

  • contribute to project goals through syllabus planning.
  • create compelling course content and engaging learning activities which is fit for our adult learners and appropriate for a specified CEFR level.
  • author original carrier content such as level-appropriate audio/video scripts, texts, and scenarios, which links to specified learning outcomes and meets project guidelines.
  • develop sequences of practice activities and scenarios that support specified learning objectives as well as devising summative tasks, scenarios and short assessments.
  • take part in internal quality checking processes such as peer-review/constructive critiquing of other learning designers’ work at draft and final stages of production.
  • attend and contribute to project-relevant meetings and trainings, as necessary.

This role is for an initial period of three to four months and a minimum availability of 15 hours per week, with anticipated start date of June/July 2023. In return, you will be offered a competitive compensation package based on the work delivered with payment milestones set throughout the duration of the project.

About you

You will be:

  • passionate about developing and delivering language learning content that meets the real world needs of our learners.
  • familiar with the CEFR and its use in developing quality, level-appropriate content for adult language learners.
  • driven to develop quality, publishable content for learners of Swedish that meets project specifications and is supplied within stipulated timeframes.
  • used to devising carrier content that is relevant to learners’ real-world needs as well as devising sequences of practice activities, tasks, scenarios, and short assessments.
  • excited to work with cutting-edge authoring tools and content management systems.
  • comfortable working digitally with a globally distributed team.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Experience teaching Swedish as a foreign language and, ideally, you will have developed your own teaching materials and/or self-study resources for learners of Swedish as a foreign language.
  • Demonstrable, pedagogical knowledge of Swedish and experience of dealing with issues that learners of Swedish from different language backgrounds encounter.
  • Tertiary level qualifications in language teaching, applied linguistics and/or digital learning.
  • C2 proficiency in Swedish and B2 (or above) in English.
