OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Principal Salesforce Solution Architect to drive strategic technical leadership, help establish a scalable, secure & efficient platform foundation, and deliver on key initiatives as part of our Salesforce Platform team. This role will provide technical thought leadership for the Salesforce Marketing CRM platform (i.e. Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud). This role will drive the Salesforce Marketing CRM platform architecture strategy for General Mills by partnering with the newly forming central platform team and product & project teams to understand business needs, assess the current Salesforce state and design the target state Salesforce solutions that meet needs while driving clarity, enabling enterprise agility, and mitigating risk. This role will provide technical guidance & mentorship to 6-8 Salesforce Marketing CRM engineers, partner with the vendor to lead holistic Salesforce CRM platform (i.e. Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud) technical strategy & roadmap initiatives, be the Salesforce Architect relationship point with the General Mills Enterprise Architecture team, and provide hands on delivery leadership in partnership with agile product & project teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Central Salesforce Platform Team Technical Leadership – 30%
  • Salesforce Marketing CRM product architectural leadership and functional & technical strategy leader
  • Lead Salesforce Marketing CRM product architecture creation & oversight
  • Holistic Salesforce CRM architect point for Salesforce vendor & in holistic CRM engagements with vendor (i.e. Quarterly Business Reviews)
  • Partnership with Salesforce vendor to understand Marketing CRM product strategies, roadmap, architecture, and best practices
  • Lead for documentation & refresh of design & development standard best practices, principles and standards for Salesforce Marketing CRM products
  • Lead with Enterprise Architecture team to provide input on strategic roadmaps, capability maps and plans through the holistic Salesforce CRM platform lens, and ensure holistic CRM principles, architectures, & standards are aligned with enterprise standards (Core & Marketing)
  • Lead holistic Salesforce CRM org strategy & documentation and holistic CRM ecosystem artifacts & capability map management
  • Lead Salesforce Marketing CRM pilot opportunities
  • Digest & determine opportunities for new Salesforce Marketing CRM feature releases and collaborate with teams to utilize new features of Marketing CRM platform
  • Participate in delivery & documentation of central Salesforce Marketing CRM modernization, optimization, & simplification initiatives
  • Partner to establish & run CRM health, utilization & security monitoring capabilities
  • Partner to establish holistic Salesforce CRM platform scorecard (operational metrics & tracking)
  • Provide thought leadership to define or stabilized various process and best practices
  • Assist Salesforce CRM Sr. Managers in project planning & risk management
  • Network with senior internal and external personnel across holistic Salesforce CRM platform
  • Lead external technical benchmarking for Salesforce Marketing CRM platform

  • Maintain visibility into all Salesforce CRM projects (Marketing & Core)
  • Provide Marketing CRM technical leadership and guidance to project & product teams
  • Understand & challenge new opportunities/business use cases, strategies, and ROI for where Salesforce Marketing CRM might be used, and to steward holistic CRM org principles in these opportunities
  • Partner with Enterprise Domain & Solution architects on Salesforce Marketing CRM solution alignment to meet use case needs
  • Lead Salesforce Marketing CRM technology evaluation, selection and recommendations
  • Own Salesforce Marketing CRM in-platform solutioning, architecture, integration, and design to ensure solutions meet business requirements (for B2B and B2C)
  • Accountable for defining interfaces and patterns for integration with Salesforce Marketing CRM platform
  • Create & maintain end to end Salesforce ecosystem architecture for Marketing
  • Create & maintain of Salesforce Marketing CRM technical blueprint artifacts inclusive of: data flow, future state, current state, system diagram, etc.
  • Own providing Salesforce Marketing CRM technical leadership & best practices to broader ecosystem design sessions where Salesforce platform is involved and/or impacted
  • Partner on alternative solution migration as Salesforce Marketing product discontinuances occur
  • Ensure Salesforce Marketing CRM solution compliance with non-functional requirements & standards (Security, Platform, Integration, Data, Operations, etc.)
  • Participate in project & product team agile ceremonies where appropriate
  • Provide effective project/task estimation
  • Share feedback, ideas & opportunities with project & product team managers for continued improvement
  • Collaborate with relevant technical leaders or stakeholders on various capability & capacity planning to support future business requirements
  • Mentorship & Technical Guidance – 20%
  • Technical SME & thought leader on Salesforce Marketing CRM architecture, configuration, customization, and integrations
  • Provide technical oversight on approaches, guidance & mentoring for Salesforce Marketing CRM engineers (internal & external partners)
  • Technical escalation point for Salesforce Marketing CRM engineers
  • Partner on creation of onboarding plans & onboarding support for new CRM technical resources & external partners
  • Partner to identify & coordinate CRM central platform team and broader internal CRM training opportunities
  • Engage, influence, and evangelize standard Salesforce Marketing CRM technical practices with development, operational and product groups
  • Lead in different initiatives (Knowledge sharing, Reading Groups, Salesforce CRM Community, etc.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree, Preferred Majors: Computer Science or MIS
  • 12+ years of experience on complex IT projects. 8+ years leading Salesforce Marketing Cloud & Data Coud IT projects through solutioning, design and architecture
  • Profound expertise in designing, developing, and managing solutions within Salesforce Marketing Cloud (encompassing Email Studio, Mobile Studio, Contact Builder, Content Builder, Journey Builder, Cloud Pages, Automation Studio,
  • Personalization, Intelligence, and Account Engagement) and CDP/Data Cloud. This expertise should also extend to managing integrations with Salesforce Core, App exchange products, and other platforms.
  • Salesforce Marketing certifications (Marketing Cloud Consultant, Marketing Cloud Developer, Marketing Cloud Administrator)
  • Solid working knowledge of data models within Salesforce Data Cloud, Salesforce Core, and Marketing Cloud Connect.
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in development, including the creation of campaigns, segment activation, customer journey design, and automation.
  • Prior successful hands-on experience executing configuration & code (AMPscript, Server Side Javascript, and SQL for advanced customization and automation), and integrations with Salesforce Marketing CRM products
  • Strong technical vision & approach to drive scalability & efficiency with global & open mindset
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD and Cyber Security
  • Proven ability to work with cross functional and global teams
  • Strong relationship management and leadership skills, with experience in guiding & mentoring others
  • Proven ability to quickly learn

  • Technologies – Google Cloud Platform, Nielsen Ratings, BazaarVoice, Validity, Tableau, Google Analytics, Copado, OwnBackup, GitHub Actions, Kafka, Hashicorp Vault, APIGEE
  • Experience with modern Software Engineering principles
  • Experience with first party data sources

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $141200.00 - $235500.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
