About the role:

Alcon is looking to hire a Senior Digital Product Designer (UI/UX) for our Digital Health unit to lead ongoing discovery efforts to inform and design the UX and UI of our digital healthcare solutions, that will drive impactful outcomes for patients and eye doctors.

Our Digital Health team plays an instrumental role in our push to improving customer experience with cutting-edge technology solutions. The team focuses on helping eye care professionals work effectively and improve patient outcomes by innovating the supply chain for critical eye care products and equipment.

As a Senior Product Designer (UI/UX), you will be responsible for the end-to-end design process of digital products including conceiving and conducting user research, interviews, and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes. You will also be expected to design the overall functionality of the product, and to ensure a great and intuitive user experience, iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary agile product team to design intuitive and compelling digital health experiences across our suite of digital healthcare solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Advocate for user-centered design solutions and testing strategies.
  • Prioritize research opportunities and develop research roadmaps.
  • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
  • Facilitate the product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products.
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions in alignment with the brand.
  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
  • Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
  • Collaborate with other cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.
  • Be curious and inquisitive, take appropriate risks and champion new ideas.
  • Facilitate co-creative workshops with key stakeholders to drive alignment and develop new solutions.
  • Track user experience metrics and reports on the success of UX improvements.
  • Mature our Design System through feedback and active contribution of know-how and components.

  • Expertise in utilizing top design software and tools like Figma, FigJam, Miro, Maze, and Dovetail, with the ability to quickly adapt to new tools as needed.
  • Experienced in developing and utilizing component-based design systems that allow for scalability and consistency across various platforms and devices.
  • Ability to communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions clearly and effectively to teams and SMEs.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on qualitative and quantitative research methods grounded in human-centered design.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design and design thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc in Design, Human Computer Interaction or relevant field and 12+ years of professional experience working as Digital Product Designer for SaaS products, in life science or in a fast-paced environment.
  • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
  • Expertise in standard UX software such as Figma and Dovetail and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
