Job Description

  • Manages one or more very complex project, involving a combination of the following:
  • Clients with a national geographic footprint; OR,
  • Projects involving a full spectrum of services offered by IE; OR,
  • Other complexities, such as projects that involve litigation, environmental protection, due diligence, etc.
  • Manages all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).
  • Has consenting and regulatory authority for approvals.
  • Manages other Project Managers.

Job Summary

This position is for Marine Engineering Team, The prospective candidate should have experience in managing marine projects. Experience in Infrastructure/utilities project will be added advantage. Responsible for the overall direction & management for design and/or construction supervision contracts. Ensures on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations. The PM is responsible for Contract activities and commercial performances to meet project goals & objectives.

Job Duties

  • Acts as the Company representative for all day-to-day Contract matters with the Client during the program/project execution. Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and contractors. Responsible for following up on instructions & commitments associated with the project.
  • Oversees establishment of Package specific briefs, contracts and procedures. Assists other Package and the Project Director on matters that cross between the projects.
  • Establishes the program requirements for all areas of the project, and monitors the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria.
  • Plans, directs, supervises and controls the execution of all business, technical, fiscal and administrative functions of the assigned project or subtask.
  • Work with Construction Manager, Project Managers, and Project Director to develop construction budgets, schedules and plans for the various elements of a project.
  • Assists the Project Director to devise and execute actions plans to rectify potential cost overruns or schedule delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.
  • Monitors and reports to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.
  • Some liaison with Shared services personnel for delivery of design, costs, schedules and overall project support.
  • Establishes regular meetings to review package status and formulate action items.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Specific Skills Required

  • Good working knowledge of the Middle East, and in particular Kingdom of Bahrain, construction industry practices/safety/quality management systems. Good knowledge of design processes and systems.
  • Experience in marine and coastal engineering applications in the Middle East.
  • Thorough knowledge of current technology; must be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
  • High level of critical thinking, numerical and literacy skills in English.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization.
  • Clear verbal communication skills.
  • High level of computer literacy.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Masters in Transportation engineering would be preferable.
  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer registration is preferable at this level.
