Senior Network Engineer

About the role

Passionate about network infrastructure? As a Senior Network Engineer at Boldyn, you will play a central role in maintaining a resilient, secure, and high-performance network environment. Your responsibilities span from designing and configuring network components to troubleshooting and collaborating with other teams. Your leadership and expertise will contribute to the growth of the engineering team and ensure the seamless integration of network services. Your participation in the on-call rotation will ensure the continuous availability and reliability of our network infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing

As part of the Network Engineering team, you’ll be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and reliable operation of our network infrastructure. This position combines expertise in networking protocols, hardware configuration, security measures, and active participation in an on-call rotation. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will collaborate across teams, provide guidance, ensure high-performance, secure, and reliable network operations. You’ll mainly be involved with:

  • Design, plan, and implement complex network solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices.
  • Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls in high availability environment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain necessary hardware for high availability of the network.
  • Install new software releases, system upgrades and patching.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance, proactively addressing bottlenecks.
  • Troubleshoot escalated network issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define network policies and procedures to meet business needs.
  • Provide excellent customer support to existing and potential customers.
  • Maintain and support high density public Wi-Fi network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to fellow engineers.
  • Provide continuous 24x7 support of Boldyn Networks’ LAN/WAN and WLAN infrastructure.
  • Communicate with vendors on network requirements for new equipment and/or related issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Explore emerging networking technologies and best practices.
  • Contribute to an on-call rotation for timely issue resolution.
  • Assist in administration, maintenance, development and implementation of policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of information and availability of systems.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent certification
  • At least one of the following certifications (or equivalent) required: CCNP, CCDP, CCDE, CCIE, CWNA, CWNP
  • Strong background in Network Engineering with a particular focus on security, high availability, and large-scale wired and wireless environments
  • 10+ years of experience; network engineering and architecture
  • 10+ years of experience; networking management and monitoring tools
  • 10+ years of experience; network security
  • 10+ years of experience; Cisco ASR, ASA Nexus, Catalyst, IOS and wireless controller technologies
  • 3+ years of experience; scripting such as scripting such as Python, Perl, and Ansible
  • Proficiency in networking protocols such as but not limited to BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/IP, BFD, Q-in-Q, Multicast Routing, QoS, EVPN VxLAN, EVPN MPLS, and/or PBB-TE.
  • Experience with following network technologies: RADIUS, NTP, PTPv2, NetFlow / IPFIX, SNMP, syslog, DNS, DHCP, SDN
  • Knowledge of Wi‐Fi communication protocols and technologies such as 802.11 b/g/n/ac, MIMO, TKIP, AES, WEP, WPA
  • Strong understanding of network hardware and configurations in a high availability environment.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and best practices (CISSP a big plus).
  • Experience designing and managing Cisco, Extreme WiNG, Ruckus, or Aruba controller-based enterprise Wi-Fi platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems (ie. Red Hat and Ubuntu)
  • Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide fellow engineers.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of DevOps practices and network automations
  • Knowledge of DWDM, optical technologies, link budgets, and RF principals a plus
  • Availability and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
