Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work on building the next generation Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) product and Shift product in the Emerging Technology group. You will play a crucial role in building and enhancing distributed systems components, write high performance code using very efficient algorithms and ensure that memory is used efficiently so that system responsiveness is maintained during high load times. You must also be able to process packets at both ingress and egress points at very high speed so that client using the system does not perceive any increased latencies. Additionally, you will collaborate with the operations team (OPS) to deploy, monitor and if required patch the changes with fixes and enhancements as well as continuously scale the systems as more customers/users get added, the engineer should be able to identify hotspots, and timely alleviate/remediate the situation.

Responsibilities:

  • Build robust and scalable data infrastructure (both batch processing and real-time) to support needs from internal and external users
  • Experience with database schema and modeling, designing and implementing API's that provide access to feature and functionality with an eye towards scale and security
  • Maintain and enhance a platform to collect and ingest several billion (and growing) log events from our globally distributed cloud infrastructure and provide actionable insights and visibility to our customers and researchers.
  • Participate in agile/iterative development cycles with emphasis on code quality, supportability, scalability, and performance.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Java coding in a highly-distributed and enterprise scale environment. Experience working with frameworks such as SprintBoot, JPA/Hibernate is very desirable.
  • Very strong development skills for high-volume production applications
  • Hands-on experience working with Apache Kafka, Druid, Elasticsearch, Redis (or other distributed cache), PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with data serialization techniques and data stores for persisting events
  • Experience building solutions based on Microservices architecture
  • Strong knowledge in implementing services following the REST model.
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure services on AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Ability to learn, evaluate and adopt new technologies

A Big Plus:

  • Experience working with graph databases such as Neo4J, AWS Neptune
  • Experience developing GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with Apache Spark streaming and batch framework
  • Experience developing micro services in Kubernetes environment

Bachelor Degree/or Masters Degree in computer science or equivalent experience

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range

$178,500—$210,000 USD
