OVERVIEW

The Snacks Operating Unit (OU) is seeking a Customer Account Lead II (CAL II) to own retail strategy and execution at Whole Foods Market, select Nat Channel Independents and support the UNFI Natural Channel Wholesaler call for Larabar and Epic. In the UNFI Nat/Org “Natural Channel” role, candidates have the opportunity to own nearly all aspects of the business allowing you to quickly develop skills that are not as readily available at this level in other parts of the organization.

  • The CAL’s primary focus is to understand customer needs and link them to General Mills’ (GMI) product and service strategies and drive in-market execution. 
  • As a CAL II you will drive incremental volume growth, expand distribution, and effectively manage trade spend by building partnerships at Whole Foods through frequent interactions as well as JBP negotiations.
  • Additionally, you will support Natural Channel Independents by leading broker partners in execution. You will also gain experience in shopper marketing as this role will help execute campaigns to drive sales and excitement in store and digitally for our independents.
  • In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with OU marketing on long-range innovation pipeline for the channel. You will also have a voice for the needs of the Nat/Org channel, requiring a unique lens and awareness of the competitive set within the Nat/Org space.

The preferred location for this role is Austin, TX. Relocation assistance will be provided to this location only. This role is also remote eligible.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

SELLING EXPERTISE & LEADERSHIP

  • Develop and maintain effective customer relationships
  • Understands customer needs and links them to GMI’s product and service strategies to develop mutually beneficial business plans
  • Leverage established GMI Sales processes to establish objectives, engage the customer, explore customer interests, explain solutions, and execute commitments
  • Gain new product acceptance and merchandising levels in alignment with selling goals

EXECUTIONAL EXCELLENCE

  • Takes personal accountability and ownership for results, deeply understands consumers, delivers market leading innovation and prioritizes what’s important
  • Meet annual sales targets by leveraging GMI trade strategy and maintaining accurate planning and spending information in the trade planning system
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop promotional offers that reflect national trade strategies and optimize GMI resources

PROBLEM SOLVING & ANALYTICS

  • Retrieve and analyze syndicated customer and consumer data to understand category and/or industry trends
  • Leverages national category management selling stories to drive GMI growth and distribution
  • Understand and leverage category management principles to influence share of shelving and display
  • Leverage enterprise wide problem-solving tools and stakeholders to address business problems

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience in sales, account management, trade funding, category management or other relevant experience
  • Successful demonstration of analytical skills using various data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, CPM, sales data)
  • Must be proficient in software packages (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willingness to relocate for future GMI career opportunities
  • 3+ years relevant industry experience
  • Familiarity/proficiency in internal systems (Trade Planner)

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • We are open to 100% remote candidates with occasional travel based on business needs. 
  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered. 

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $77900.00 - $117000.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
