Social Media Graphic Designer - Student Assistant Specialist

Responsibilities:

The Platform Cooperativism Consortium seek a talented and motivated graphic designer to assist with an array of social media projects. This student worker must qualify for a Federal Work Study award. The designer reports to the Assistant Director and the Director of the Consortium.

This position is a great way to learn more about alternatives to capitalism and the exploitative gig economy, platform cooperativism, the politics of digital culture, and the major players and organizations working to make a difference in these fields. This role also allows for connecting with PCC’s global network, and possible rehiring in the coming semesters.

Responsibilities:

  • Create unique and original designs and posts for social media accounts related to the Platform Cooperativism Consortium
  • Ensuring branding continuity across deliverables
  • Monitor like-minded organizations for design and content inspiration, and occasionally promote partners’ content on PCC social media sites, as approved by the Assistant Director
  • Assist with various organizational tasks and administrative/office needs in coordination with the Assistant Director;
  • As needed, communicate and liaise with important external partners of the Kit and Consortium;
  • Participate in meetings or calls or events pertaining to platform cooperatives.

Other duties as assigned

Hourly Rate: $20

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Student must have Federal Work Study award
  • Excellent visual design skills
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to proof and edit content prior to publication
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Takes the initiative when following-up on tasks and is a proactive communicator who can circle back to supervisors to report on task completion
  • Demonstrated interest and understanding of cooperatives, the digital economy, and/or the platform co-op movement; and/or a willingness to learn and engage in this domain.
  • Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 Policy and requirements.
