CHANNEL MARKETING MANAGER – Packaging and Technical Papers 

Location: Fort Mill, SC 

Reports to: Director of Marketing 

Overview: 

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Channel Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing B2B marketing strategies for a specific channel or channels. This role requires a passionate, results-driven, highly motivated, creative marketer who will play a critical role in driving sales and brand awareness.

As the Channel Marketing Manager, you will be the subject matter expert and source of market intelligence for your channel(s). Executing channel strategies will drive sales of our client's products by educating, training, and establishing relationships with designated channel customers and partners. Key focus areas will concentrate on communicating a strong value proposition through product knowledge, promotion, and building strong partnerships which ultimately increase product sales. 

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 

  • Develop and articulate a deep understanding of the containerboard and technical papers industries, including market trends, competitors, and customer needs.
  • Deliver periodic marketplace analysis and audits: including ad hoc key account sales analysis, business opportunity analysis, and marketplace and competitive landscaping.
  • Identify and execute areas of opportunity for market research – qualitative and quantitative – to support business priorities and strategies.
  • Regularly analyze industry data sources for trends, impact, and insights. Develop communication strategy for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Establish and execute channel strategy through collaboration with key stakeholders (product management, sales leadership, sales operations)
  • Develop the long-range strategy for assigned channel.
  • Conduct analysis and periodic reviews of Domtar’s value proposition for assigned channel, competitive landscape, customers, and consumer trends to enhance Domtar’s brand equity and market position.
  • Develop, execute, and articulate on the value proposition and key messaging for the customer/channel.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical specifics for product lines sold into assigned channel to enable effective marketing programs and creative execution.
  • Where applicable, define branding strategy to ensure a consistent, relevant voice while measuring desirable outcomes.
  • Develop relevant sector communications plans including campaign strategies while collaborating with the channel sales teams.
  • Establish specific goals for tradeshows and events and develop metrics to gauge success.
  • Conduct necessary research on target personas, customer journey, buyer needs, purchasing decisions, etc.
  • Gain thorough understanding of customers within assigned channel, translating behavior and needs into key insights to drive channel distribution and market share.
  • Identify marketing opportunities for customer engagement on a face-to-face level.
  • Support product training execution where required.
  • Lead Omni-channel marketing efforts to drive sales and increase customer engagement and loyalty in assigned channel.
  • Manage the analysis and communication of channel and customer specific promotional programs, implementing best practices in future initiatives to achieve maximum returns.
  • Develop sales tools and collateral specific to assigned channel and customer set.
  • Identify and target key resources at trade publications, trade associations.
  • Manage partnerships and projects with a variety of internal and external agencies and vendors.

  • Industry knowledge in containerboard, eCommerce, corrugated packaging and converting as well as value added technical papers such as label stock.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA required in marketing or related field. 
  • 10 Years’ demonstrated experience and knowledge of marketing, brand management, sales, and business processes.
  • Advanced degree desirable.
  • Direct experience in the containerboard industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with Sales Force/Pardot or similar CRM tools.
  • Excellent and compelling presentation skills.
  • Proven cross-functional team leadership experience.
  • Successful project management experience.
  • Proficiency in use of customer analytics and insights for strategy development.
  • Experience for developing and managing digital marketing strategies to drive awareness and consideration of Channel products and services.
