Meaningful Work From Day One

This role plays a critical role in developing and implementing Brown-Forman Japan’s sales strategy, plans, capabilities, plans, processes, and analytics nationwide.

What You Can Expect

  • Build & strengthen commercial capabilities across the organization, leading deployment of the Brown-Forman Commercial Way
  • Shape & support commercial strategy, including developing recommendations, guidelines and processes for category & customer planning, trading terms & conditions, and route-to-market
  • Lead and continuously improve sales planning & operations processes, including sales forecasting, discount budget allocation & management, promotion planning, KPI setting, trade execution monitoring & metrics, field sales management, and product allocations 
  • Develop tools and guidelines for sales analytics to support data and insight driven planning, decision making, and learning; conducts sales analyses as needed
  • Inspire, coaches, and develops talent within the organization
  • Collaborate closely across the Commercial Strategy & Operations team and with cross-functional partners

What You Bring to the Table

  • 5+ years of experience in sales planning & operations in the FMCG in Japan
  • Ability to think strategically, with a high degree of business acumen and judgment
  • Understanding of market & channel structure, trade margins, and trade terms (discounts & rebates) in the FMCG industry
  • Analytical and problem solving skills with a high level of Excel/Google Sheets capabilities for complex data management and analysis
  • Communication skills (influencing, listening, presenting, writing); able to explain sales and analytical results in a clear, concise, and visually appealing manner
  • Proven ability to identify problems/opportunities and plan, prioritize, organize and manage multiple projects to completion by specific deadlines
  • Personal honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels 
  • Collaborative team player with strong conflict management skills
  • Adaptable, flexible and resilient 

What Makes You Unique

  • Sales management, planning & operations, or trade marketing experience in the alcohol industry in Japan, with good understanding of channels/customers (wholesalers, retailers, bar suppliers, on-premise outlets) and trading terms & conditions. Experience with western liquor industry a plus.
  • Experience building, improving/changing, and leading sales capability development, sales strategies & processes, and tools & guidelines for a sales team
  • Experience leading teams and coaching and developing people
  • Prior work experience for a foreign company, especially a U.S. or European company
