Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

As a Senior Director, Business Performance Analytics, you will lead and execute business analyses and provide insights to influence strategic business decisions for the Travelers Risk Control Lab. You are accountable for the oversight and execution of the design of actionable, meaningful success metrics, and monitor and evaluate outcomes to identify further optimization opportunities and communicate business results across senior leaders.

You will partner with and influence business leaders across multiple functional areas to consult on business priorities, influence strategic business decisions, ensure optimal outcomes, and optimize value through solution identification aligned with business strategies, and ensure future data direction.

In this role, you will pilot and implement new modeling frameworks/analytics to build business case support and report financial results and metrics for supported business line. You will be part of the Risk Control Data & Analytics organization and serve as a member of the Travelers Lab leadership team.

What Will You Do?

  • Serve as a member of the Travelers Lab leadership team and report into the Risk Control data & analytics organization.
  • Support Lab emerging trends research and experimentation efforts from a data and analytics standpoint.
  • Accountable for successful business partnership and business analytics support across multiple initiatives.
  • Leverage and/or build data and analytics, to influence business strategy to leadership by translating insights into business value.
  • Use data visualization and storytelling to leverage insights, communicate the business story, and influence solutions to senior leaders.
  • Accountable for the review and interpretation of complex data trends to support Health of the Business.
  • Oversee the designs and ensures the execution of Proofs of Concept leveraging various tools and techniques to develop capabilities.
  • Work with and manipulate multi-level dimensional data towards the ultimate design required to meet business requests.
  • Design and identify metrics by which to monitor business results. Oversee the monitoring of business results.
  • Leverage creative problem solving and deep technical and business knowledge to answer complex questions from business partners and package in a way to be used across senior leaders.
  • Proactively coordinates with cross functional teams on varying business initiatives.
  • Leverage industry best practices, analytic tools and techniques, market data and technology trends to identify and implement business opportunities.
  • Responsible for developing an enhanced business intelligence engagement strategy with other functional and LOB data and analytical teams.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of emerging Claim data trends and initiatives.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Experience in Business Insurance Claim, Subrogation and/or Claim Legal concepts & business intelligence.
  • Eight years of descriptive analytics or related experience working in the P&C industry with knowledge of insurance products and concepts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Economics, Business, or related.
  • Four years of technical team project leadership or people management experience.
  • Extensive experience using and building business intelligence.
  • Deep understanding of business functions, operations, analytic functions and/or product of supported business line with the ability to translate insights into business value.
  • Deep technical understanding of descriptive and diagnostic analytic processes, including multi-variate analysis, data quality, data reporting, and data retrieval.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, present technical data and trends, and recommendations while understanding the financial impact of the business.
  • Ability to understand business goals and identify best practices to execute and influence Sr Leaders.
  • Awareness and adherence to established data management practices and standards.
  • Strategic analytical and business mindset.

  • Six years relevant analytics experience required.
