Reporting to the Director, Temple Professional Network, the Associate Director, Alumni Career Engagement, will support the creation and facilitation of meaningful opportunities for personal and professional development through the Temple Professional Network, which provides career support to all alumni throughout the entire alumni lifecycle. This person will influence a comprehensive strategy of innovative professional development programming and identify opportunities to engage alumni through a variety of engagement touchpoints and volunteer opportunities. 

The Associate Director, Alumni Career Engagement, at the direction of the Director, will provide support to colleagues in the Career Center and within each of the individual schools and colleges to complement and enhance existing professional development opportunities for alumni, strengthening the growth and tracking of alumni-to-student connection programs and alumni professional development activities. This person will plan and execute career-related volunteer opportunities and other events that enhance the alumni/donor engagement cycle, provide support to university partners and alumni leaders to foster a culture that encourages support of Temple-owned businesses, professionals, and promote the recruitment of both alumni and current students for internships and professional opportunities. 

The Associate Director will interface with students, alumni of all ages, corporate representatives, and executives. 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of experience in a career development role and/or alumni relations role, preferably in a higher education setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • Strong relationship management skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships to maximize program effectiveness.
  • Significant understanding of alumni engagement in a higher education environment. · Experience managing a variety of career-related technologies and platforms, including job boards, social networks, mentoring/career advising platforms, virtual networking events and webinars.
  • Strong ability to identify opportunities and gain organizational support for strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively within a variety of situations and with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to independently assess project challenges and obstacles, and to identify solutions based on knowledge and understanding of organization and stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and outstanding personal initiative. Highly detail-oriented and motivated.
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to connect to a variety of constituent types, clarity, and persuasiveness in written and oral communications.
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to plan, think strategically, and manage multiple projects and deadlines; ability to remain calm and level-headed under pressure. Flexibility and willingness to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable computer software and applicable professional principles 

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working with alumni populations.
  • Prior experience working with the Banner database system.
  • Strong marketing experience with demonstrated knowledge of LinkedIn. 

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
