Your Team

The position will report to Senior Principal Engineer I, DSP

What You Will Do

  • Lead the microphone voice system engineering design of all the Harman Life-style division products, such as conference speaker, headphone and smart speaker, standalone mic (Karaoke mic, Podcast mic).
  • Develop microphone voice system technology, product prototypes and manufacturing processes based on Harman internal or 3rd party’s solutions and technologies.
  • Monitor and evaluate new mic system technologies, which is suitable for voice communication, voice recognition and high-quality standalone mic products etc.
  • Analyze Harman internal projects and external customers’ requirements and specifications to propose the appropriate solutions to award the project and execute the engineering function on mic part through the full program cycle.
  • Work with projects team leaders and PM to solve the microphone engineering issues.
  • Communicate with peers inside the HARMAN Consumer Audio Product group for product development. This includes occasional travel for training or coordination with other groups and suppliers to HM.
  • Participate in internal and co-development design reviews throughout product development life cycles.

What You Need

  • Must have good hearing and be capable of accurately evaluating sound quality of audio product.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or acoustical engineering.
  • At least ten years experience working as a engineer in new product development.
  • Experienced in audio products testing using proper equipment;
  • Good at communication;
  • Good spoken English language skills and write technical documents in clear and concise English.
  • Experienced with computers, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

What is Nice to Have

  • Driver component background
  • Algorithm background of headphone related.
  • Working knowledge of VOIP, Skype, and similar telecommunications technologies
  • Working knowledge of handsets and headsets used for telecommunications.
  • Good temperament and ability to work with suppliers and customers from different cultures.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Creative problem-solver capable of creating and reproducing complex defects.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes commonly used in acoustics and electronics assemblies.
  • Build environment of trust, high performance and engagement by establishing clear goals and a commitment to feedback, development and recognition
  • Champion a better, faster and simpler way of doing things
  • Apply original thinking and continuous improvement to processes, products, systems or services and manage change to better serve customer needs
