The Digital Solutions department of the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks a Senior Software Engineer who will work on several web applications and cloud platforms. 

In this role, along with supporting operational activities, you will also have the opportunity to contribute towards all phases of a delivery project, including systems analysis, architecture and technical design, development, build & release, and maintenance. You will be expected to provide innovative technological solutions to grow and stabilize the technology platforms along with improving the processes. You are a self-motivated, rapid learner, a seasoned thought partner, and an exceptional communicator with the ability to translate between business and technical partners. 

Please Note: This position will be on a hybrid work arrangement where a full-time on-campus presence is not required.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Propose, conceptualize, design, implement and develop solutions for complex applications and web technologies such as Java, JS, React, PHP, and Python.
  • Oversee testing, debugging, change control, and documentation for major projects.
  • Develop standards, implement best practices and engage in long-term strategic planning along with other engineers in the team.
  • Lead teams and projects on all phases of application development and help troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.
  • Oversee the development, deployment, production support, maintenance and operation of various applications.
  • Review technical designs of existing and new systems, optimize application performance and security.
  • Stay current with industry trends, recommend appropriate solutions for adoption, and drive adoption across the team.
  • Establish trust and drive collaboration with business users and cross-functional teams including analysts and QA, help analyze their processes, make value-driven choices, rationalize where appropriate, and define the technology solution.
  • Exemplify GSB guiding principles of open, honest, and timely communication, personal ownership, and innovation, demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming methods, with hands-on coding experience in at least one of the programming languages such as Java, Python, PHP or C#.
  • Demonstrated experience in architecting, designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications with thorough understanding of all aspects of the software development life cycle and quality control practices.
  • Hands-on experience in web development, designing and developing complex workflows and using latest technologies, integrating disparate sub-systems into unified functional systems, including familiarity with frontend and backend development and accessibility guidelines.
  • Demonstrated secure coding practices and ability in researching and implementing latest industry practices and technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading activities, providing broad technical thought leadership and mentoring to teams. Ability to explore and learn latest technologies to creatively achieve business goals.
  • Skills in one or more of the following: API development, service-oriented architecture, cloud computing, MVC, mobile application development and related patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working with distributed technical teams and working in an agile/scrum environment.

The expected pay range for this position is $144,000 - $186,000 per annum.
