Position Summary:

The Department of Music at Rollins College welcomes applications for a one year, full-time, visiting assistant professor faculty position in music technology at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Music. The primary responsibilities will be to teach Music Technology courses. Other teaching responsibilities will include teaching in the Rollins general education program, notably known as Rollins Foundation of the Liberal Arts, and possibly other music courses depending on the candidate’s expertise.

Minimum Qualifications and Education: 

  • Expertise in DAWs: Proficient in teaching digital audio workstations, with a primary focus on Logic Pro X.
  • Audio and MIDI Sequencing: Demonstrated experience in instructing students in audio and MIDI sequencing within the Logic environment.
  • Notation Software Mastery: Proficiency in teaching notation software, particularly Finale, to students of varying skill levels.
  • Multimedia Instruction: Ability to guide students in video editing, website construction, and self-branding.
  • Strong Musical Background: A robust foundation in music, including a background in performing and/or composing, to bring a well-rounded perspective to the role.
  • Passion for Technology Integration: Enthusiasm for integrating technology into music education, fostering creativity, and inspiring innovation in students.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing high-quality instruction and mentorship in a collegiate setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4-years of successful full-time, college-level teaching in music technology.
  • History of teaching non-music majors with ideas for engaging course topics.
  • Terminal degree in music technology.
