Summary of Role :

The Financial Accountant takes full responsibility of the finance function, including statutory and management accounting, of the companies he/she is responsible for. Contract role from March - October 2024.

What you will do:

  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts (GL Reconciliations through to reporting)
  • Various reporting requirements as part of, and in addition to, month end work:
  • Preparing invoices; revenue reporting
  • Accruals; detailed reporting on various expense items
  • Community Spend
  • Related Parties
  • Analysis of costs and performance, and being pro-active about suggesting improvements
  • TB analytic review, and preparing information to be included into Management Accounts.
  • Cash flow forecasting, and reporting
  • Prepare budgets and information to update Financial Models
  • Assisting with various compliance requirements; including holding the wider South African Mainstream team accountable for duly following procurement process.
  • As a member of a dynamic team, the incumbent will regularly be requested to perform a range of ad hoc tasks.
  • Ensuring that there is alignment with Mainstream Values. It is important that there is strong teamwork, and that, as far as possible, working methods are aligned within the team and with other Mainstream teams (locally and internationally).

What we require: 

  • Qualified CA or completed a financial qualification with extensive experience
  • Audit, financial statement and IFRS experience.
  • Confident self-starter with the ability to act on own initiative, multi-task and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Be able to work efficiently and to a high level of accuracy
  • High levels of energy and motivation, with a track record of delivery.
  • Strong organisation, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Flexibility to work on a broad range of projects
  • Be inquiring, open to improved ways of working, and comfortable in suggesting improvements
  • Be able to solve problems and thrive in a challenging environment, and work well in a team of independent thinkers
  • Work as a strong team player; also ensuring that as far as possible, working methods are aligned within the team and with other Mainstream teams (locally and internationally).
  • Act with high levels of integrity and accountability.
