Year after year, London's Pride celebrations bring people together in amazing ways. The connections and community we build lay the groundwork for a brighter, more inclusive future. Now's your opportunity to play a meaningful part as a Pride in London volunteer.

Pride in London is embracing a renewed sense of purpose that resonates with everyone. We stand as a beacon to highlight ongoing challenges within the LGBTQ+ community, even amidst progress. Our roots intertwine the protest origins of Pride with the spirit of celebration.. Our guiding values – Visibility, Unity, and Equality – drive every step we take.

Our incredible team is a blend of passionate staff and volunteers who champion diversity, inclusivity, and understanding. We hail from diverse walks of life, forming a vibrant community of change-makers. Our ultimate goal? To amplify awareness of LGBTQ+ matters and advocate for the rights that ensure equal lives for all.

With a diverse and dedicated year-round team of around 150 volunteers, we orchestrate Pride in London, the incredible event that unites us all. Your unique voice can contribute to the symphony!

Your role

We are seeking a proactive, creative Communications Officer - PR to join our media-facing team. You will elevate Pride's external presence across channels by responding to media inquiries, promoting events and leveraging news opportunities.. This is a high-profile role for an enthusiastic storyteller passionate about spotlighting London's vibrant LGBTQ+ community. It requires a minimum of 4 - 6 hours per week.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the wider Pride team to promote positive press coverage
  • Build media contacts and pitch engaging Pride in London stories
  • Craft quick, publication-ready responses to media requests
  • Develop creative promotions to spotlight Pride in London happenings
  • Synergize with social media team to align external messaging
  • Promote Pride in diverse media outlets and new markets
  • Provide media support for Pride events beyond the main parade
  • Work with sponsors/partners to co-promote relevant campaigns

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Experience securing coverage across print, online, TV and radio media
  • Passionate communicator experienced working with diverse media outlets
  • Strong writer able to craft and tailor stories for specific publications
  • Savvy networker excited to build media relationships
  • Thrives in quick-paced high-profile environments
  • Resourceful self-starter driven to raise Pride's profile
  • Organised multi-tasker able to juggle multiple projects
  • Team player motivated to creatively spotlight LGBTQ+ community
  • Existing relationships with LGBTQ+ media outlets a plus
