JOB PURPOSE:

As a GSK medical science liaison (MSL), your role will function as a key scientific resource for Canadian Hematology/Medical Oncology specialists. Your three core responsibilities are: 1) responding to requests for in-depth, scientific information in the field of hematology malignancies; 2) discussing and contextualizing new data from scientific conferences, publications, and GSK's pipeline to ensure a strong external understanding of how the science fits into clinical practice; 3) for driving capturing important scientific insights from the external environment to support GSK’s research efforts as well inform overall medical strategy. As a GSK MSLs, you will be expected to drive impact through robust scientific exchange, improving healthcare professionals scientific understanding of our data, and supporting optimal care for people living with hematological malignancies in Canada.

PRIMARY FOCUS:

As a GSK MSL you will be expected to…

  • Identify, establish, and maintain scientific peer-to-peer relationships with key external experts in hematology/oncology through providing scientific exchange and driving impact for patients with the highest industry standards following GSK values, policies, standards, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Be the scientific field-based expert in hematology in the territory and maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of diseases, treatments, and the competitive landscape to ensure excellent scientific dialogue and clinical knowledge translation.
  • Be agile and adaptable to provide value across a continuum of both internal and external stakeholders in a non-promotional manner and be responsive to unsolicited scientific and medical information inquires.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the healthcare community within your territory and the internal GSK teams to gather insights that inform current and future business strategies.
  • Attend and provide scientific support at medical exhibits and scientific sessions at regional, national, and international medical conferences as needed.
  • Provide scientific training for GSK sales representatives regarding GSK products and the conditions they treat utilizing approved sales training materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An advanced post-graduate scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD), a valid Canadian driver’s license, and strong fluency in English (scientific and technical) is required for this position.
  • Exceptional aptitude to apply and leverage scientific and medical information while establishing scientific credibility through peer-to-peer discussion and debate is essential.
  • Independently driven, forward thinking, strategic project, and territory management focus to develop strong working relationships with external experts. 
  • Excellent public speaker, with outstanding scientific presentation skills
  • Exceptional people skills with a focus on teamwork and strategic execution of medical affairs plan in your respective territory.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing medical information exchange with healthcare professionals within the Canadian pharmaceutical environment.
  • Sound negotiation, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with drug reimbursement processes in Canada
  • Ability to work independently and ability to travel throughout the territory up to 70%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in hematology/oncology (+2 years) in a medical affairs position or in academia with established relationships/connections with associated healthcare professionals is preferred.

RESPONSABILITÉS CLÉS DU POSTE :

En tant que MSL à GSK, vous devrez…

  • Identifier, établir et entretenir des relations scientifiques entre pairs avec des principaux experts externes en Hématologie/Oncologie en fournissant des échanges scientifiques et en stimulant l'impact pour les patients avec les normes les plus élevées de l'industrie conformément aux valeurs, politiques, normes, lois et réglementations applicables de GSK.
  • Être l'expert scientifique de terrain en Hématologie/Oncologie sur le territoire et maintenir une compréhension et une connaissance approfondies des maladies, des traitements et du paysage concurrentiel pour assurer un excellent dialogue scientifique et une application des connaissances cliniques.
  • Être agile et adaptable pour apporter de la valeur à un continuum de parties prenantes internes et externes de manière non promotionnelle et être réactif aux demandes d'informations scientifiques et médicales non sollicitées.
  • Servir d'interface principale entre la communauté des soins de santé de votre territoire et les équipes internes de GSK pour recueillir des informations qui éclairent les stratégies commerciales actuelles et futures.
  • Assister et fournir un soutien scientifique à des expositions médicales et à des sessions scientifiques lors de conférences médicales régionales, nationales et internationales, selon les besoins.
  • Fournir une formation scientifique aux représentants commerciaux de GSK concernant les produits GSK et les affections qu'ils traitent en utilisant du matériel de formation commerciale approuvé.

QUALIFICATIONS DE BASE :

  • Un diplôme scientifique d'études supérieures avancées (MD, PhD, PharmD), un permis de conduire canadien valide et une solide maîtrise de l'anglais (scientifique et technique) sont requis pour ce poste.

  • Connaissance de la réglementation régissant l'échange d'informations médicales avec les professionnels de la santé au sein de l'environnement pharmaceutique canadien.
  • Solides compétences en matière de négociation, de leadership et d'organisation.
  • Familiarité avec les processus de remboursement des médicaments au Canada.
  • Capacité à travailler de manière autonome et capacité à se déplacer sur tout le territoire jusqu'à 70% du temps.

QUALIFICATIONS PRÉFÉRÉES:

  • Une expérience antérieure d’au moins 2 ans est préférable dans un poste d'affaires médicales ou dans un milieu universitaire où des relations/liens sont bien établis avec des professionnels de la santé en Hématologie/Oncologie.
