We are an immediate opportunity for a Technical Editor to provide ongoing support to customers and programs including, but not limited to editing content for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and formatting. Materials edited include various technical safety basis documents for the DOE nuclear facilities such as Technical Safety Requirements and Documented Safety Analysis, other types of reports and analysis (e.g., earthquake analyses), procedures, plans, PowerPoint presentations, etc., as needed.

Responsibilities

  • The position involves heavy collaboration with other editors and team members at various levels, as well as executives and managers. 
  • Successful candidate must enhance the overall readability and flow of documents while maintaining the integrity of technical information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint as well as other software for storing, sharing, and communicating technical information and documents.

Requirements:

  • Recent college graduate with a degree in communications, journalism, technical editing or English preferred, or solid background in writing/editing.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors in technical documents.
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a DOE Q-clearance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, strong written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
