What you’ll do

As an Operational Risk Manager, you will

  • Elevate understanding and management of risk across all departments within the Group's appetite.
  • Advise entity directors on the effectiveness of risk management.
  • Contribute to the continued development of an overarching Risk and Control framework, improving the maturity of risk identification, escalation, assessment, and remediation processes.
  • Contribute to the APAC's control assurance activities, ensuring reviews are fit for purpose, in depth analyses are undertaken and control owners deliver on accountabilities.
  • Opine on the reporting and investigation of risk incidents, ensuring, in partnership with risk owners, that those outside accepted risk appetite are sufficiently escalated and remediated.
  • Collaborate with team leads and promote a challenging risk dialogue, driving a risk first culture that allows for emerging issues to be discussed, debated, and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Forge strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, while challenging the status quo with respect to risk management in those groups.
  • Collaborate with 1st line (in-business) risk-managers and subject-matter experts (SMEs) to align on strategic direction for our control framework and opine on operational risk management in these departments.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.

Who you are

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree and/or post-degree qualification in Finance, Business, Accounting or Risk Management.
  • Five or more years of experience in operational risk management, audit, or risk management. Ideally including work in external risk-advisory for a major firm or internal audit.
  • Exposure to Trading and/or IT related risks in our industry.
  • Solve complex problems in a pragmatic and simple way with a strong focus on internal controls.
  • An advocate for behavioural and cultural change, being able to influence individuals to improve risk and control awareness.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders while challenging the status quo.
  • Ability to assess a broad range of risks and form a conviction in which areas deeper exploration is required relatively quickly.
  • Knowledge of and passion for external trends and best practices related to risk in our industry.
  • Precision of thought and ability to articulate concisely.
  • Attention to detail.
