Job responsibilities 

Strategy and Planning

  • Supports the development of effective working relationships and documented BCP plans in conjunction with all functional business areas to develop and maintain a corporate wide BCP program that addresses business recovery and emergency response management 
  • Supports the alignment of all BCP planning, initiatives and goals with Organizational goals and Infrastructure capabilities 
  • Partners with Senior Management and Operations through the facilitation of risk assessments (Business Impact Analysis) and the development of recovery strategies 
  • Provides guidance and direction on physical security compliance requirements and risk mitigation strategies 
  • Develops and implements safety and security plans to close any potential gaps in the continuity and security controls 
  • Designs and outlines BCP goals, objectives and scope for business plans and Crisis Management Support and assists in the development of BCP planning and goals 
  • Develops and refines documentation of policies, procedures, and standards in support of the BCP 
  • Collects, trends and reports key metrics for measuring disaster recovery and high availability program successes. 
  • Provides oversight of processes/procedures across business areas relating to the physical security program 
  • Represents the Safety, Security and Business Continuity team within capital project working groups 
  • Ensures costs are aligned with spend and budgets are adhered to; provides recommendations and guidance relating to how to best gain efficiencies 
  • Leads the implementation of Corporate Security polices, programs and procedures corporation wide. 

Operations & Incident Management 

  • Monitors risks and coordinates activation of BCP 
  • Leads and facilitates execution of the BCP and supports plan navigation for the business at the time of an event 
  • Identifies and recommends enhanced plan maintenance strategies that remain flexible to organizational growth, change and resource capabilities 
  • Completes and updates business impact analyses (BIAs) for various outages 
  • Acts as the Subject matter expert for business continuity management and be involved with the Company’s audit and RFI process 
  • Selects and maintains an appropriate suite of tools to support the execution of the BCP program. Stays abreast of industry changes and monitor best practices to ensure continuous improvement of the BCP program 
  • Coordinates development of business unit schedules for annual business continuity documentation maintenance and update, conduct exercises, as well as independent review and validation 
  • Provides expertise and support to management and business functional areas, as requested, when a business disruption occurs 
  • Evaluates and advises on selection of vendors to ensure service level agreements meet disaster recovery planning requirements 
  • Deals with planning, organizing, scheduling, follow-up, problem resolution and status reporting on global disaster 
  • Documents and updates pertinent results of application recoveries from planned recovery tests into system of record 
  • Captures and maintains evidence of application recovery tests for reporting and audit purposes. Ensures that issues are documented and closed. 
  • Reports the business continuity status of business units to senior management 
  • Conducts analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements and mitigation strategies to issues and develops formal recommendations to the current security environment 
  • Drives complex, highly sensitive and often time-critical projects, including but not limited to, Security Office process automations, ongoing Limited Access Protocol improvements, Security Office Governance/Controls system implementation, etc. and supervises project sub-teams 
  • Establishes and conducts regular physical security surveys of the organization’s key properties in conjunction with business area leaders and security consultants 
  • Identifies opportunities and delivers solutions to continuously improve the program and ensure operational readiness through regular crisis exercises 

Testing & Training 

  • Designs, facilitates and coordinates tests and exercises on the business plans and crisis management execution 
  • Identifies opportunities and deliver solutions to continuously improve the program and ensure operational readiness through regular crisis exercises 
  • Coordinates development of business unit schedules for annual business continuity documentation maintenance and update, exercises, and independent review and validation 
  • Leads the development and delivery of enterprise-wide BCP communication and training initiatives 
  • Establishes, maintains, or tests call trees to ensure appropriate communication during disaster 
  • Conducts Global security trainings, site reviews, and tabletop exercises

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Information Technology or a related field and/or equivalent job-related experience Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Understanding of Business Continuity Management processes and best practices 
  • Requires robust knowledge of leading practices in business continuity management combined with experience in crisis management.
  • Requires strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and requires robust knowledge of leading practices in business continuity management combined with experience in crisis management and physical security.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Must be comfortable presenting 
  • Strong organizational skills and a track record of leading a range of tasks and issues simultaneously to a positive outcome and on time 
  • Strong ability to ascertain and understand all relevant facts and business processes to support analysis of issues 
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint 
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with a great degree of autonomy 
  • Ability to remain calm during a crisis event 

Special Requirements: 

  • Certification(s)/designation(s) in related area (Certified Business Continuity Professional, Certified Disaster Recovery Professional) 
  • Ability to work nights and weekends during a crisis event 
  • Ability to travel – 20%
