Risk Management Specialist - Exam and Issues Management (St. Louis, MO/Hybrid)

Summary:

The Risk Exam and Issues Management Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for the company's regulatory examinations, which include Safety and Soundness, Compliance and Trust, and targeted reviews. The individual will be responsible for managing and monitoring the Centralized Issues Management system of the Company as well as expanding on our positive and strong working relationships with regulators. The Risk Specialist will work closely and collaboratively with peers, management, executives, and others on regulatory and issues management matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the action plans from the executive team to meet the expectation for examines
  • Assure that stakeholders are held accountable
  • Ensure we meet deadlines and requirements by managing the relationship between examiners and the bank
  • Assess risks by analyzing data, observing processes, and asking staff questions.
  • Develop reports and presentations describing findings, identifying and explaining potential risks, and recommending solutions
  • Assess risk using appropriate risk assessment models and methodologies
  • Perform point-in-time and continuous examinations of the Holding Company, Bank and its various departments (including Trust). This includes:
  • Provide all requested examination documents/items to examiners in a timely manner after receiving them.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient examinations by effectively communicating with examiners and acting as their primary contact.
  • Identify and anticipate important questions, additional requests, meetings, and other items that require immediate attention while tracking and following up on them.
  • Communicate the status of examinations to management.
  • Provide status updates and disseminating them.
  • Provide oversight of the Company's Centralized Issues Management system, including the following:
  • Track and maintain all issues within the system
  • Resolve issues with management by working with them.
  • Assess the reasonableness of issue responses provided by issue owners.
  • Complete other assigned tasks and projects.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, with various levels of management, including executives.
  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals.
  • Strong understanding of Risk management principles
  • Proven communication skills with a keen focus on effective execution.
  • Solution-focused with ability to proactively identify potential issues and offer recommendations.
  • Track record as an effective, consultative, and collaborative partner.
  • Provides internal and external customers with consultative and friendly service, exceeding their expectations while responding promptly, efficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent critical and strategic thinker with the ability to effectively communicate and influence.
  • High level of written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of banking processes.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, independent worker with a focus on self and associate accountability.
  • Comfortable in using and adapting to technology resources to maximize organizational efficiency.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in a risk management, internal audit or other role at a financial institution that included exposure to audits or examinations

Computer and Software Skills:

  • Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
  • Archer or GRC experience preferred
  • Google applications, including Google Documents, Sheets, GMail
