As an Electrical Engineer at WHOOP, you will help design the next generation of technologies aimed at enabling members to understand how their bodies behave under stress and strain, how well they are sleeping and recovering, and how best to accomplish their goals. We are always trying to stay at the cutting edge of technology and manufacturing techniques, so this position requires an open mind and ability to learn. Day-to-day tasks may vary from supporting manufacturing of existing products and researching the latest components to laying out noise-sensitive PCBs and measuring device performance in the lab.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform market research and select electrical, electromechanical, and optoelectronic components for use in high volume manufacturing
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout of electrical circuits with mass production in mind using CAD and simulation tools such as Altium and SPICE
  • Design low power, low noise, mixed signal sensor circuits for internal development platforms and productization with input from firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, reliability, and software teams
  • Sustain production, including validating second sources, developing functional tests, and designing electrical test platforms
  • Work closely with diverse cross-functional teams to validate hardware features, improve device performance, and provide support
  • Research and develop next generation technologies, manufacturing techniques, and concepts
  • Up to 15% travel domestically and internationally to partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers
  • Validate designs in the lab using multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and LCR meters
  • Electrical rework for prototyping, validation, and testing purposes

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 0-5 years experience in relevant fields
  • Solid knowledge base of fundamental electrical design concepts including analog signal conditioning, power supply design, RF layout considerations, and digital communication protocols including I²C, SPI, UART, etc
  • Experience writing low level drivers and code in C and high level scripting in Python
  • Experience in designing and developing bio-medical sensors such as ECG, PPG, SpO², GSR, etc

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
